  1. This is one game and the Brewers are still a more complete team.
  2. Real quality at bats by Estrada and Mench. One pops up ball 3 around his neck and other pops up a 2-0 pitch around his ankle in a 6-2 game. I guess the concept of getting base runners allude them.
  3. This inning shouldn't have gotten to this point. Again I have not been critical of Ned but good managers don't allow this to occur time after time. When a guy walks the #7 or #8 hitter it is time to go get him. You don't treat all of your pitchers as if they are Sheets. If you know a guy is being killed by the big inning how about not allowing him to get into that position. A lead off walk is a screaming red flag with Bush that Yost sat there and ignored. How about not having anyone up throwing late in the game with a guy who has been killed by big innings?
  4. As soon as Bush puts a runner on base in the 7th you go get him. Has he ever worked his way out of one these situations? He is a 6 inning pitcher. He gave need 6 great innings and again he tries to bleed an extra inning out of him.
  5. There is something unfair about a 180lb guy getting a hit with a broken bat.
  6. They might not be hot but any of them makes more sense than Estrada. I guy who runs like he has a piano on his back and swings at everything. His OBP is below 300 and believe me Jenkins and Hall are both are atleast above 300 no matter how not hot they are. By the way he isn't hot either. How many runs has he driven in in the last 3-4 weeks. I mean he is hitting about 0.275 with no patience at the plate and his lack of speed is a killer that high in the order because he puts the ball in contact and whne he hits on the ground with men on he does more damage than good.
  7. I like his offens to hitting 7th or 8th in the lineup. He has a grand total of 18 RBIs his OBP is less that 0.300 he is a rally killer and teams are going to start pitching around Prince when there is a base open if our manager doesn't put a real hitter behind Prince.
  8. I rarely rip the manager but what in the heck is his fascination with hitting Estrada 5th in the lineup? Seriously. The guy kills more rallies swinging at pitcher pitchs and he has 18!!!! RBIs. What makes NEd think this guy is 5 hole hitter?
  9. I don't think hitting Weeks 8th helps you one bit. Particulary when you hitting him in front of the pitcher. He is going to see absolutely nothing to hit down there. What you need in the 8th hole is some one who will walk and allow you to get the pitcher out of the way and not leading off innings. 1. Weeks 2. Hardy 3. Braun 4. Feilder 5.Hart 6. Jenkins/Mench 7. Hall 8. Estrada 9. P spot
  10. Maybe this is a petty concern or simplistic analysis, but in HS when a guy plays everywhere on the diamond it is sometimes because he cannot really play a position. Also, read somewhere that even though bulk/size isn't an ultimate indicator of run production potential in prospects, there seems to be a track record for guys who are Moustakas' size and the track record picking guys his size or smaller this high is scary bad (6' 175-180). It isn't a statistically insignificant population either. I am not a scout or expert on the draft but it was something I read over on baseballprospectus.com.
  11. The Brewers are in first place on June 4th.
  12. He is my favorite prospect and the draft but I think he might be the guy who starts to drop because of Boras. If he falls to the Brewers I have a feeling because of their lack of picks early on in the draft they might bite the bullett draft him and give him the major league contract for 10M which would be totally out of character but this guy could be the best prospect in the entire draft.
  13. I haven't had any major complaints with Ned's lineups but one thing that makes me nuts is hitting Estrada fifth. Let me run of the list of reason why this is a bad idea. He hits into to many double plays, he has zero plate discipline and he has killed a number of rallies the last month simply for these reasons. Hit Hall or Jenkins there and Weeks or Hart behind them when he comes back and drop Estrada to 7th or 8th. I know why Ned hits Estrada as high as #5 (because he is switch hitter but the guy isn't a #5 hitter from either side of the plate).... Hopefully when Rickie gets back Ned will realize it.
  14. As part of that why eliminate Draft and Follow? .... It seems to me that this is a way for the small market teams to use the draft efficiently and stockpile talent in their minor league systems.
  15. I guess this is aimed ast me and since any response by me would violate the don't be mean rules around here. Write Peter Gammons a note or Ueke your thoughts on how stoppers and aces aren't important because they don't minimize losing streaks. I won't say anything else because I will be accused of being either mean or arrogant.
  16. I was under the impression that the "baggage" Milledge carries comes from befroe he was drafted. Since being in professional baseball has he really been a problem? I know the Mets called him in for lyrics from a rap song. I think the thing I like about Millegde is that he has the potential to be a lead-off hitter the Brewers lack. Milledge would allow the Brewers to drop Weeks in the order. Having Milledge at the top of the order with Weeks hitting somewhere in the order more comfortable in the future is tempting.
  17. That accounts for 5 losses. What about the other 10 or so games that have been lost in the stretch.
  18. I wouldn't trade Yo for less than a "young" AS OF. However, Pitching has not been the main problem. Start with the awful production with the few runners we have had in scoring position. The Brewers are dead last in hitting in the NL with runners in scoring position and the reason is the awful hitting through out the lineup for the last 3 weeks. It started in the Nationals series.
  19. The Yankees are in deep trouble. THeir bullpen has been burned out and their starting pitching is a disaster area. The notion that getting Clemens for 4 months is going to fix what ails the Yanks staff without them making some moves to add pitchiing is a joke.
  20. The production in the Brewer outfield is not very good right now. They have 6 OFs, all of them except Hall and Jenkins are "enormous" questions marks. I like Hart but Ned seems to be like you. He thinks having guys like Gross, Gwynn and Mench are an excuse not to have a regular OF. The 3 are OK 4th and 5th OFs and apsre bats but giving them significant ABs is a killer. THe OF is average to below average right now. Adding a bat could help a great deal.
  21. If the Brewers really want Abreu I bet he could be had for Bush and Mench. Plus I bet the Yanks would make up the salary difference. I actually agree, taking a chance on Abreu makes sense and Bush and Mench are players that I think can be replaced.
  22. There has been a lot of talk about the Brewers maybe go after an outfield bat. I don't think I like overpaying both with top end prospects or dollars for a high profile guy. The Yanks are desperate for pitching and Cabrera is 23 and is a switch hitter, but I will be honest with you I don't know how good he was when the Yankees rushed him to majors 3 seasons ago. Does he have the potential to be a better run producer than Mench?
  23. I think Inman might be at AA by the end of the year, and be able to start 2008 in AAA. He has advanced fairly quickly. THe guy who keeps popping up around here is Greinke and that is the type of arm who could help the Brewers out of the pen right now and by next year maybe a member of the staff. HIs problems are not major ones but the Royals are so bad that he seems to be unable to learn how to win. Inman plus one of the other prospects and Gwynn might be able to get you a guy like him, depending on how dumb the Royals are.
  24. 1. Yo will never pitch out of the pen. 2. To get a guy like Grienke you have to start with Inman and then start to haggle about guys like Gross, Mench and Gwynn. They are going to want two prospects back for a young arm with MLB experience. It amazes me how some fans thenk you can toss your trash in a bag and get back quality. I mean Gross and Mench or Gwtynn for Greinke. If you called the KC GM with that trade he would fall out of his chair laughing.
  25. I mena could folks give Hall a coupple months in CF before throwing on the pyre. I swear there is zero patience around here. We have 5 more months of baseball left to play.
