  1. Good post Backupcatchers, it's time for the players to start stepping up.
  2. Runs scored or not, the Cubs have dropped 6 of their last 9. Obviously that trend won't hold, but it just goes to show how streaky teams can get. I see this year being as wide open as any.
  3. Maybe DM should have done a better job in the first place? Then Ned wouldn't have to look elsewhere on the team for a closer.
  4. Why Melky Cabrera or a Melky type player? I wouldn't want to have a weak hitting CF with average speed and SB potential. It's not the first time I've seen his name mentioned, and I can't figure out for the life of me why a guy like that is coveted. Like SoCal, I don't see our current farm system as a "magic bullet." I would like to see a big time proven pitcher, or another young arm come in. And unlike some, I think you have to keep Sheets, hope Yo heals well, and then add one more arm on top of that. Come late season, it's Starting Pitching that is going to carry a team.
  5. If you have a trainer to make all of these decisions, and a pitching coach to make all the pitching decisions, and a batting coach to make all the hitting decisions, and base coaches to make all the baserunning decisions, and players to decide whether they can play or not, what's the point of having a manager? I have never said they make every decision, however they do influence nearly every decision. You're not going to have a staff if you're not going to listen to them. In this instance, you go with your trainer nearly 100% of the time.
  6. So just because Ned can outweigh the trainers he should? I'm getting more and more confused out of what some expect him to do. Once it's torn, it's torn. Nothing happened by him staying out there.I know Ned has the final say, but why logically should he use it if he got reports it was OK for you to stay? If you expect a manager to not listen to a trainer and his players, what's the point of having a trainer?
  7. Series, if the trainer says he can go, and Yo says he can go, why is this Ned's fault for leaving him in?
  8. Wouldn't this fall on the training staff and not Ned? I just don't see how the immediate thought is to him? I would imagine the damage was done at the point it happened, and leaving him in didn't make things any worse. Either way, I don't think you wait to trade for pitching, find someone now, and show that the Brewers are serious about this thing. I do not want to rely on Dave Bush and potentially Jeff Weaver to get this thing done.
  9. 16-13 for me.
  10. I come from the camp where blame has to fall on the players majority of the time. Every manager and coach of every sport make bonehead mistakes, and I feel they are far to often wrongfully criticized. To me it just gets frustrating that some refuse to look past the Manager himself to the rest of the staff as well. A "good" manager will use the input of his staff to the fullest, and make decisions based off of the input received, which I honestly believe Ned does. However, when things fail, the giant pointing finger is 99% of the time pointed in his direction, and his direction alone. On the flip side, whenever they meet or exceed expectations, there is rarely credit given to the him. To me, it doesn't come down to hindsight, I can understand why people dislike Ned, and respect why they feel that way. I just with people would take a more neutral stance in their criticism and not ignore the good things, but rather pass out the compliments when just. Agree totally with FTJ on the ?3, however I don't look at it as a 5-6 game influence, but rather a near wash.
  11. After he retires, I would love to see him join one of those softball home run hitting tours. Guy could just go around the country mashing the ball like 600ft.
  12. I don't think he "spared the BP at the expense of Ben's arm." Even though Ben was off last night, I don't think he was laboring. At the first sign of physical trouble, Ben would have been removed. You know it's a conversation Ben, the training staff, and the coaching staff all have together if he is able to go. I agree with Backupcatchers what better place to knock the rust off than during live game situations. edit Back to back came due to posting a response to a post which came as I was posting my initial, sorry.
  13. I know this quote is cut down (keep BF.net beautiful), but do you honestly think wins are out of spite towards the moves he makes? And nice post Backupcatchers.
  14. How did the weather influence the bats over the last home stand with the roof closed for all 7 games? There was a constant temp with no precip. ?
  15. FTJ I think this might be on Dale, he is known for being over aggressive on the bases, and just might have had Braun running into that situation. I wouldn't be surprised if he called for the steal.
  16. I can't believe I found this thread. This guy + wasted = awesome. Fanatics rocks. Peace.
  17. I agree he shouldn't have thrown that many, however his DL stint doesn't really factor. He was on for his knee and not his arm.
  18. Shouldn't the 14 pitchers go on Doug?
  19. I give up on this. Not because I agree, rather because some of you fail to be rational. It's not worth it Invader...
  20. The Miller Park shuttle that runs down Wisconsin from the Badger Bus Depot will drop you off right in front of Helfaer Field.
  21. Left field corner of the Loge Level.
  22. Well said Terracereserved. Even on here when I disagree with someone, or am discussing something, 99% of the time the counterpoints at least make sense. Such is the nature of talk radio I guess.
  23. I don't even listen any more. It's really too bad, as I used to really enjoy the show, but it has turned into nothing more than a whine fest. Too bad really...
