  1. Their logo should be a cartoonish baseball, with bat wings and fangs, wearing a team cap, swooping out from the text which reads "River City RockBats" or some such. Ok, now that that is settled, as soon as I hit the Powerball I'm retiring and buying myself a High A ballclub.
  2. As a ticketholder for tomorrow's game at Miller Park, I don't think I'm alone in hoping that this one gets called before the first pitch today.
  3. I thought Haudricourt's game story was a little bit overly pessimistic last night with respect to Parra's outing. Didn't think the performance was much different than usual, to be honest. If anything, the vibe that came from the quotes tended to back up the story, though it's fair to ask if that is cause or effect.
  4. Without already knowing about this, I would have guessed RockBats was the name of a minor league franchise.
  5. Looking like a genius on the pitching and defense call. About par for my ability to call anything lately.
  6. Other than pitching and defense, I like the way the Brewers match up in this one tonight.
  7. I think Braunie should claim injury and just take the AS Break off. He could use the rest.
  8. I was, of course, referring to the Minnesota start, not the Seattle start which somehow slipped my mind. I guess the Mariners are just forgettable.
  9. Excellent! If his last start is any indication, Narveson has them right where he wants them.
  10. I understand the idea that at least a few Brewers games should be available over-the-air, but at some point there needs to be a provision written into the contract that the OTA provider simply simulcasts a standard def version of a higher-quality FSN broadcast which would continue to be he primary vehicle by which most fans would watch. Or, ideally, broadcasts in HD. Watching WMLW via DirecTV isn't the equivalent of poking my eyes out with wooden skewers, but it's awfully close. Heads up, Brewers, but WMLW isn't doing you a favor. You're doing them a favor, and at no small inconvenice to the vast majority of your viewers.
  11. I've been watching this game wondering who these guys are in the Brewer uniforms. Of course, I did the same thing the past night and day, too. Then I came to the realization that this is just what to expect from the Brewers, and every other team in the NL Central. I'm pretty sure it won't be Milwaukee, but somebody has to win the division, right?
  12. See, if you had continued on to sentence number two you would have been validated.
  13. Sad part is 73-90 over the past 163 games, and this season's winning percentage is at present the equivalent of . . . 73-89 over 162 games. The equivalence is only conicidental, but at somepoint you are what your record says you are.
  14. If I can trust what I'm reading and hearing, it's clear that only thing that can save the Brewers is signing LeBron.
  15. Blind Pigs and Acorns Commemorative Bobblehead Night.
  16. Best full month of baseball for the team in over a year! And to think you anti-stats guys don't put a whole lot of stock in luck. June 2010 14-13 May 2010 12-16 April 2010 9-14 October 2010 3- 1 Sept 2009 13-15 August 2009 13-14 July 2009 9-17 June 2009 12-15 May 2009 18-10
  17. I don't see why everyone is so down. This is the best month the Brewers have had since May 2009. Things are looking up!
  18. In re: the title: IF?
  19. Why the heck was Bourn stealing there? I'd fine any player on my team for stealing in that situation.
  20. Taking my daughter to see Dave Bush pitch on Monday. It wouldn't be necessary, but grounding doesn't seem to be an effective punishment anymore.
  21. Parra being one of the better pitchers and Parra folding under pressure are, sadly, not mutually exclusive propositions for this organization. In any event, the guys coming in after Parra must surely shoulder a heck of a lot more of the responsibiilty for what followed. Braunie and Prince. Not so good, though surpisingly they are 27 and 18 in the league in OPS, respectively. Not great, but not horrible either.
  22. Given the attitude that hitters have towards Ks these days, why is a one-off 10K performance any more impressive than a one-off 0 hit performance?
  23. Yep. Those kind of looks are usually reserved for FIFA officiating or bad baseball comedies.
