  1. Behold the power of football. (Which is probably more accurately stated as behold the power of televised football).
  2. Sure, but given the chance . . . . It's really neat to see the Royals doing this. When any team gets on a roll like this in terms of playing beyond what all reason tells you should happen it's something to see. You just don't want it to happen against you. In a way I feel bad for the Orioles because it feels like they never had a chance despite everything in their favor.
  3. "Someone has to stop this." Uttered by my daughter as Adams rounds the bags for a 3-2 lead. If nothing else I am a proud parent.
  4. Not only that, I thought the game could easily have been over in 9 if Zimmerman didn't get squeezed on outside pitches that Hudson got all day to that point.
  5. How long can the catcher hold it before throwing back to the pitcher? What about throwing it around the infield after a K? Also, in a move that makes life a bit easier for clumsy vendors but tough on customers, the Five Second rule has been codified as an addendum to the rules of ballpark eating.
  6. I am shedding no tears over the Pirates. Not desirous of any late drama either, due to sleep deprivation from last night.
  7. Who feels worse? Brewers fans or A's fans? I like both of these teams tonight and wish neither was playing in teh game. I feel badly for the A's. Can't imagine how I'd feel if the Crew had limped in and lost like that.
  8. And it comes to a merciful close at 4:20 PM CDT. All I learned from this season is that when it's my time to go, I hope I don't go out like the Brewers, if only for my family.
  9. I flipped over after football. I'm really trying to stick with this to the end, but this is just really subpar baseball, even for a meaningless game in the standings.
  10. Wow, Mariners with bases loaded, no out in bottom of 9th needing 1 run to win and have a chance going into game 162. Two of last three batters get to 3 ball counts, but game goes to extras. Exciting, but tough to watch given what I expected not so long ago.
  11. So, anybody holding an O/U ticket from the start of the season just a little bit nervous?
  12. This doesn't surprise me. Brenneman has always seemed to have something against the Crew. It seems like most of the rest of the divisional broadcast teams take plenty of open shots at Milwaukee without even needing an excuse. If anything the Cubs broadcasters might be the least objectionable of them all. We're pretty lucky to have BA and Rock. Even when they're saying something negative, they're not boneheads about it.
  13. Well, it that's not a metaphor for the entire season, I don't know what is.
  14. I'm not prone to overreaction, but my vote is to burn it down. Burn it all down.
  15. On a ball that never got more than 90 feet from the plate, Gomez thought it would be smart to run halfway to third when starting from first.
  16. Between the Packers and Brewers today, I'm all stupided out. It's just been a litany of dumb all day long.
  17. Finding a way to win the next 7 games wouldn't necessarily answer any questions, but it would at least make them moot for a day or two.
  18. It's like Christmas in September.
  19. The worst part is, if K-Rod blow it, he's probably only gonna give up the tie. Then we'll have to sit like flies with our wings being pulled off for an indeterminate number of innings, watching the Crew fail to get down bunts and stranding runners in scoring position as we await the blooper that finally ends it.
  20. I hesitate to imagine how excited we'd all be if the last three nights had turned for the Crew instead of against them. And that's AFTER the huge nosedive. If they blow this one it's just cosmic piling on.
  21. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out, tie game, top of 9th. Has disaster written all over it.
  22. I would walk off the field. That's ridiculous.
  23. Just at a loss for words at this point. I've started a bunch of posts and then just quit on them. Just soul crushing. With football all weekend this may well be the last of the Crew for me this season. Still pulling for them until the E# chimes, but I really don't want to have to see it when it happens, especially since it'll probably become official when somebody hits a walk-off homer for the Reds on a broken-bat jamshot that wouldn't be a homer anywhere but that stupid bandbox.
  24. Not even a sweep is good enough now. Fitting that they lose it this way. Mental mistakes, lack of hitting and relying on Jimmy Nelson pretty much sums up three key themes of the second half.
