    This is an incredible deal. When it first came down and eventually Ruiz’s name got out my first thought was ok what else and nothing else ever came and I’m stunned.

    You can make an argument that Hiura should play more. Considering the options playing over him, I'd even be inclined to agree that he should play more even though the ridiculous K rate would likely cause his numbers to crater as he's exposed more. You lose the plot when you go after Adames' playing time or say "he can do no wrong."

    I think it's far more likely that Turang gets the starting 2B job, Urias keeps the starting 3B job and Peterson and Brosseau are backups. Peterson to go all around the diamond and take tough RHP from Urias and Brosseau getting starts over Turang against LHP (Urias moving to 2B, Brosseau taking 3B.)

    So why were we not compensated for taking on money to help the Padres out? And please don’t tell me Ruiz or Gasser was our compensation for doing it because I’m not buying it and even if it’s true, you don’t make this move now.

    We either took him because we thought there was some value in him that we could extract (clearly not the case based on this) or we took him to even out the money going to the Padres (don’t cry poor anymore) and we should have been compensated for evening out the money. It’s just a stupid, awful move in either case.

    This was a really good trade for them. Trade up 20 spots in the 1st, only lose 12 spots in the 2nd and only lose a 3rd to move that far up. Trade value chart has them around +200 with this trade.
