Tyler Black, a first-round pick by the Brewers in 2021, has consistently impressed with his hitting, plate discipline, and base-stealing ability, earning recognition as a top 50 prospect. However, the Brewers have mishandled his development. After a strong MLB debut in 2024, Black played only seven games before being sent down. His second call-up was even shorter, lasting just five games with limited at-bats. Despite continued success in the minors, Black was repeatedly sent back down to make room for other players, like Garrett Mitchell. By 2025, Black has no clear starting role or even a guaranteed spot on the roster, as the Brewers only see him as a first baseman or DH. The Brewers have to give Black a consistent opportunity or trade him.
