Given that they currently have DiFelice and Jackson in the bullpen, Julian would not be a bad choice for a stopgap. He's barely pitched enough in 2008 to make a judgment.

I believe that Jayson Stark, in his Rumblings and Grumblings, actually said that the Brews made as concerted an effort trying to procure his services as did the Colorado Rockies.

Was he DFA'd? I read an article that mentions the Rockies may still have mild interest in Tavarez "when he becomes a free agent today". Maybe we could take a flyer on him after all. I'd be much more comfortable with this vs giving up anything for him.

Red Sox sent RHP Julian Tavarez outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.

 

Tavarez has accepted the assignment, apparently to give the Red Sox a few more days to finalize the trade they've been working on. The Rockies and Brewers have expresed interested in the right-hander.
