Brewers/Cubs proposal

The Cubs may have some interest in Clark to play CF until Pie is ready. The Cubs also have depth at SP with the following:

 

Zambrano

Prior

Hill

Marquis

Lilly

Wood

Marmol

Marshall

 

So, how about a Clark for Marshall deal? Marshall could battle for the 5th spot or become the long reliever. In addition, he's got options left.

 

I would love to expand this deal to include Murton, but I guess it would depend on what the Cubs would want. I'd imagine a couple of decent prospects might do it (Hurricane & Thurman/Welch/Garrison?)

Clark for Prior? If ever he were to regain some of his earlier success, it'd be like buying quite low. And he is still quite young and anyone who saw him take an errant line drive off his leg knows he is just a product of bad luck.

Marquis is not slated to be a start right now.

 

Wood's incentives are all for relief appearances and saves.

Sean Marshall is pretty darn good. No way he goes.

I'd gladly take one of their bullpen arms. Their bullpen looks pretty formidable. With all of their pitchers Marshall could be one of the odd men out. Who knows what the Cubs will give up to get that 'final piece'.

 

Didn't they give up Nolasco & Pinto for one year of Pierre? That's looking like a nice one for Hendry.
