Would you have a problem if the Brewers took a low risk shot on Mark Prior?

I've always wanted to load a minor league team up with guys like Mike Jones, Mark Prior, Nick Neugebauer, JM Gold, Mark Mulder, etc etc. They'd all have similar stories and experiences to talk about, while hopefully 1 or 2 develop into big leaguers.

I guess I don't see the harm in scouting him and giving him a minor league deal. Every year there are filler guys on AAA teams, really what would one slot hurt. And if he panned out, all the better.

Signing him seems like an OK move. I would welcome it, assuming there were no guarantees. He probably won't make it back, I wouldn't think, but plenty of guys in AAA probably won't make it.

I concur with the signing him wouldn't be a bad move provided there are no guarantees. Considering that Prior's return to the big leagues would be as a reliever (per the article), as long as the he is made to earn a big league job and isn't given preference over one of the younger guys who has earned the spot due to their play this year it is great to have depth and competition.

Nashville will be stocked with prospects next season. Jeffress, Rogers, Lawrie, Peralta, Rivas, Heckathorn, Davis, Green, Lamontagne... just some of the guys that could spend time there in '11.
