Paint Question

I recently had my basement remodeled and that included the electrical closet where I kept all my paint. I wanted to move it because I had the closet carpeted and I also wanted some more space for storage. I asked the carpenter, who is my cousin, if I could store it in the garage. He said yes, as long as its off the ground. My brother and brother in law both said I couldn't because it would freeze. I'd like to keep it out there but I need it for touch ups and what not so I can't have it getting ruined. Can I store paint in the garage over the winter time? I'm just talking about regular indoor egg shell type wall paint.

I've done that before. I have a 3 car unattatched garage, no insulation/heater. Really messed up the paint. I was using some name brand paint too
