TV turns itself off and on

I have a 42" LG Plasma that is about 3.5-4 years old that has been acting up lately. It started out by turning itself off for a couple minutes then turn back on. Then it would turn off for a hr or so then turn back on. Then 3 days ago it turned off and didn't turn back on at all until a few minutes ago when my cat bumped the lower left hand corner of the TV. I heard it click like it was turning on but it quickly turned off. So I started tapping on the lower left hand side and it started clicking again and it came back on.

 

Anyone know what might be going on with the TV?

I'm no expert on these matters by any means, but it sounds like some sort of wiring/electrical issue. I'm not sure where to even go for that sort of thing. Are there still TV repair shops out there?

It could possibly be something with the power supply. If it's something more severe, it may be time to get a new TV.

I'd make a smartass comment about the cat, but I don't know whether to suggest that the cat should be euthanized for getting near the TV or rewarded for making it turn on again.

are you close to neighbors next door or in an apartment building? Maybe someone else's remote or something similar having an effect on your TV.
