Because he was pitching pretty well and the bullpen is stretched a little thin. Well, at least the most reliable arms (KRod and Ax) are...if the two of them are unavailable, getting three innings from the bullpen could be an adventure.

Well, part of the reason the Phillies can stock their system is because they can buy players they want at the ML level and not feel the need to have to hang on to every above average prospect they have or push guys to the ML club too early. When you must hang on to and develop your own guys to actually build a team your options are much more limited.

His control was gone, he wasn't pitching well, was over 105 pitches and Loe/Estrada/Dillard can cover 1 inning.

Is there a reason some people think K-Rod will finish this game rather than Axford? I feel like they've both been consistent and Axford is younger, therefore if one of the two can go a 4th day in a row it's Axford. Just curious what others think about that.
