This makes no sense why did we trade for these 2 guys there going to play Counsell at 3rd and Kotsey in Center field. RR better not pull this stuff when they play St Louis the next 3 days.

In all seriousness, I'm sure Roenicke just wanted to get Kotsay a start. He needs to stay sharp so he's effective off the bench. I would be willing to bet he was scheduled to start for Hart until he went 4-5 yesterday. Counsell I can't explain. Hairston should be getting that start.

Yeah, like I said before I'm sure he preferred to start Kotsay in RF today, but he's not gonna bench Hart after a 4-5 game.

Hairston is competent at 3B and CF. Kotsay is not.

Isn't it pretty apparent, after months of seeing the same thing, that they see Kotsay and Counsell as important bench pieces and that those guys will contiue to play and get ABs because of it?

 

I can't explain it, nor will I defend it, but that's the only conclusion that can be drawn. A similar conclusion has to be drawn with respect to out starting left-side of the infield.
