Matt Holliday Injured - Could miss rest of season?

I'm surprised this isn't on here anywhere yet, but Matt Holliday had to leave the game in the 9th inning last night due to a hand injury. He got hurt on deck swinging a bat. Said he could no longer grip the bat or swing. He flew back to St. Louis this morning to get it tested, so this might not be a minor thing. Season only has 2 weeks left, so even a sprain could be a significant loss to the Cardinals. Obviously we'll have to wait until we hear more, but this sure weakens their lineup a ton.

Some of the guys over Gateway are calling him injury prone and ripping him a bit. Others are defending him. Pretty standard stuff

I like the title of the article:

Dubious injury could end Holliday's season

The title implies that the injury is shady in some fashion.

 

I like the injury-prone comment - like he could do anything about appendicitis.

Yeah, he cant really control that his appendix decided to burst. We'll see what his injury is, if he tore a ligament or tendon or something it's not like he could play through it. Either way, he's out at least for today, and possibly a lot longer.

Didn't he come back from the appendix removal surprisingly fast?

As of today, he's played in 120 of 148 games, so he's missed some. But given the fact that he had an appendix thing, a quad injury, the weightlifting injury and now this, that's really not all that many games missed.
