Soup & Diego to throw out first pitches in St. Louis

I'm going to start calling Soup the 'Trojan Horse'. Attanasio, Melvin, etc. fell hook, line and sinker for LaRussa's evil plan to sabotage the Brewers' Central hopes. This would make a good movie.

Maybe Diego should just stand in the box for Soup's first pitch and crush it into the right field bleachers.

Edmonds had nice things to say about Milwaukee, and his time with the team last year, yesterday on the SVP show on ESPN Radio. In the end he did go with StL, but that's where he lives.

I have no problem with Edmonds doing it. He's a Cardinal in my book. That would be like Jenkins tossing out the pitch had the Brewers played the Phillies (he was at the game this weekend with Attanasio, BTW). With Suppan, it's too soon. He actually 'pitched' just as long in Milwaukee as he did in St. Louis. I find the fact that the Brewers have likely cut him a check for doing nothing within the 12 months (not that he did anything before) to be a bit tacky. As for the NLCS thing, are we really at the point where we are celebrating 5 year anniversaries in baseball? Many of those guys are still playing.

Who cares who's throwing out the first pitch, really? Seems kind of classless to me.

 

In all seriousness though, I don't care that he's throwing out the first pitch. And the comparison between Suppan and Sheffield is nothing short of completely ridiculous. Like someone else mentioned, Suppan was a great guy off the field. There are some guys that I root for and like to see do well just because they're incredibly down-to-earth and humble off the field. Suppan was one of them. Casey McGehee is another.

I don't know if they are celebrating the 5 year anniversary. I think they are just celebrating the last time they were in the NLCS.

We should see if Billy Hall could throw out the first pitch for us! His stretch from 2006-2008 vs the Cards earned him so much more cred than he ever deserved.
