Michael Reed

Reed splitting time at Helena isn't a concern. Yes, they have a lot of bodies, but there is too much invested into him to sit him half the time. Nor have the Brewers shown the tendency to do something like that.

One other part of his development that we forget (beyond his skills) would be his HS to pro-sports "conversion". They do handle the kids a little differently (host families, etc..) at Rookie ball than in A-ball. I'm not sure about his maturity level, but learning to handle yourself in a professional manner is a skill also. Plus mixing a 19yo with 21/22yo at A+ might cause some problems with under-age drinking. Not that it couldn't happen now, but when all your buds are going out legally and you can't, its added pressure.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Is he a center fielder? He was playing RF in BC but I'm not sure if that was his natural position or if he was playing there because center field was already spoken for.

Has anyone here actually seen Reed play?

I ask because I have questions about his attitude and demeanor.

After watching him in Helena for 3 games I am not seeing a lot of fire or really much interest in the game.

I don't know if he is upset with being in Helena or it is just his personality.

Just wanted to bump this thread. Reed is more than holding his own in Wisconsin as a 20 year old. A line of .313/.399/.436. He can steal some bases but gets thrown out a lot. I also see he is still listed as a CF but plays LF when he and Taylor are in the lineup together. Just a few questions for anyone who has seen him play this year.

1) How does he look in CF? Can he handle it on a full time basis?

2) If not does he have enough power to be a full time corner outfielder?

3) Is he a top 10 organizational prospect now after a solid year?

4) Is Michael Brantley a fair comparison for him?

And That and TheCrew07 talked about Reed in CF the other day.
