  1. From /r/Brewers: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/article/108945/monday-morning-ten-pack-enddy-of-beginning/
  2. I sat next to a five-year-old girl from near Appleton on my flight from Milwaukee to Kansas City today. She was on her way to Montgomery to see her favorite player, Jadher Areinamo, play his former organization. It was surreal to chat prospects with a kindergartner. She knew her stuff! She calls Marco Dinges "Marco Dingers", and granted I'm not super plugged-in anymore, but if that's not his official nickname already it should be.
  3. Tim Collins had a nice little career.
  4. I guess Payne took the physical.
  5. Josh Adamczewski is making his debut and batting leadoff for the ACL Brewers.
  6. Tim Collins had a pretty good career for a HS UDFA.
  7. Latest mock draft from Jonathan Mayo at MLB.com:
  8. I don’t remember seeing, outside of extremely small samples, a GO/AO ratio higher than Castillo’s 3.25. Something to keep an eye on.
  9. OF WOAH SOLVDD!
  10. I would have gone with "Coed Copy" myself. KJ Harrison's is bitterly ironic if you've been watching "The Terror" on AMC (you should). Great work as always.
  11. McCalvy sez likely no immediate surgery for Hiura and that Hiura expects to be assigned to Wisconsin.
  12. Ward is one day younger than Workman and is the youngest Brewer draftee this year. In total the Brewers drafted eight 17-year-olds (and two othes who turned 18 earlier in June); that seems really high to me. Not only did they go for youth, they went for young youth.
  13. This sentiment plus the "best college hitter"/second baseman thing makes it feel like a combination of the Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks picks to me. Hopefully it works out similarly.
  14. Well, at least I'll be able to go to the games once in a while. I live about 90 minutes from Lancaster now.
  15. I mean, as MH said, he's from Huntsville. He literally pitched for Huntsville in 2014 and spent the majority of his 2014-16 Brewers tenure in the state of Alabama. His entire Brewers minor league career was spent, with the exception of his short stint in Colorado Springs last year, within 2 states and 10 hours of his hometown.
  16. Relievers with >10 IP, K/9 > 9, K/BB > 4, H/9 < 8: Colton Cross Jordan Desguin Conor Harber Stephen Kohlscheen Daniel Tillman Christian Trent All righties except for Trent. The line to board the Christian Trent hype train starts here. My endpoints miss someone like Jon Olczak, but I don't know scouting reports on any of these guys, so it's all made-up spreadsheet numeromancy anyway.
  17. Perrin is the new Woodruff. Here's a scouting report from earlier this year: "Perrin is a large framed right handed starter with the potential for 3 average pitches. The fastball features slightly above average velocity paired with deception and the ability to command the pitch to 4 quadrants of the plate. The slider features short bite in the zone. He throws plenty of strikes and will be a durable innings eater at the highest level."
  18. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Lewis Brinson 3. Josh Hader 4. Corey Ray 5. Phil Bickford 6. Luis Ortiz 7. Isan Diaz 8. Trent Clark 9. Brett Phillips 10. Marcos Diplan 11. Jorge Lopez 12. Nathan Kirby 13. Brandon Woodruff 14. Cody Ponce 15. Freddy Peralta 16. Kodi Medeiros 17. Devin Williams 18. Corbin Burnes 19. Keon Broxton 20. Gilbert Lara 21. Michael Reed 22. Jacob Barnes 23. Jacob Nottingham 24. Lucas Erceg 25. Monte Harrison 26. Demi Orimoloye 27. Jon Perrin 28. Miguel Diaz 29. Mario Feliciano 30. Jake Gatewood
  19. That's a good catch on the diminished bonus. When the Brewers said he hadn't signed yet, I wondered if there was an issue discovered in his physical; a smaller bonus lends credence to that theory.
  20. I'd selfishly love it if they moved to the Cal League, because then I could go see them. Lancaster is a little over an hour away, a nice drive through the San Gabriels. Of course, we've seen that movie before in High Desert and it presents the same developmental issue. Forget history class--if you played StarCraft, you've (indirectly) heard of it: http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Yamato_cannon
  21. Hopefully Ray has more than a Bit Part in the Brewers' future.
  22. Carlos Silva? I was thinking his MLB results, but FWIW at 21 and 22 in A+/AA Silva struck out 12.0% of batters and walked 3.5%; at 22 last year in A+ Ortega struck out 12.7% of hitters and walked 1.9%. Silva didn't throw particularly hard but he definitely wasn't a soft-tosser, either. Clearly that means Ortega is gonna be even better than Silva! In actuality Silva's gotta be Ortega's 99th percentile outcome. Usually those types of results do not scale.
