Cravy to the 7-day DL.

Formal text from Sounds Media Notes --

CRAVY PLACED ON DISABLED LIST: Right-hander Tyler Cravy has been placed on the Sounds’ disabled list today, two days after departing his Triple-A debut early due to injury. Cravy will head to the Brewers’ Arizona complex rather than return to Music City with the remainder of the Sounds. No counter move was made to fill the open spot on the Nashville roster.

The Brewers have signed 18-year-old (he'll turn 19 in six days) 1B/3B Geuris Santana.

Santana already has a full Dominican Summer League season under his belt, playing 44 games for the DSL Marlins in 2013. Santana posted a .176/.304//206 line for a very rough .510 OPS. His defense, particularly at third base, was not strong either (career stats via Baseball Reference).

Santana, a Dominican native, is a LH bat, and has a 6'3" frame, so at least there's that.

Santana made his Brewers DSL debut Tuesday, walking, getting HBP, and striking out within five plate appearances as the DH, scoring one run.

Welcome, Geuris! (No big league Geuris' exist, but Santana is one of three all-time minor league Geuris', each from recent years.)

We'll ask the Brewers if Geuris is the younger brother of Maryvale's 20-year-old OF Yunior Santana, since they were both born in San Pedro de Macoris, and the birthdays could allow it to be.

"HECKATHORN ACTIVATED; FALU TO T.I.L.: Pitcher Kyle Heckathorn was added to the Sounds active roster today, after missing seven games on the disabled list. He will fill the spot left by infielder Irving Falu, who has been placed on the temporary inactive list (retro to June 21) to attend a family funeral."

Very brief absence for Irving Falu, now activated off the Temp Inactive List.

Figaro up, Fiers down, just to get a fresh arm to Miller Park today.

Having remaining options is a fickle thing. If Will Smith doesn't give up the lead Tuesday night, Fiers doesn't throw four innings and he's still in the big leagues.

"Fresh" is a relative term -- Figaro tossed two scoreless in Salt Lake City yesterday (Tuesday).

It's a left oblique injury for Cravy.

Falu now a Padre... Opens a 40 man roster spot.

Player moves involing AAA and AA today, via the Stars --

3B Jason Rogers has been transferred from Huntsville to Nashville.

3B Taylor Green and RHP Eric Marzec have been transferred from Nashville to Huntsville. (In the case of Green, he was first activated from the Sounds' disabled list.)

RHP Casey Medlen has been placed on the Huntsville DL retroactive to 6/25.

***

That's tough for the AAA / AA yo-yo Marzec, he's pitched very well in a Sounds uniform.

Congratulations to Jason, this will be his AAA debut.

Why??? Bring someone up from High A.

There are about 10 pitchers who could be bumped up from Brevard to Huntsville, but the pickings are much slimmer for hitters. He's not ancient, either, as Komatsu's only about 8-9 months older than Kentrail Davis and D'Vo.

Though he's been on Nashville's DL retro to 6/18 (oblique strain), RHP Michael Blazek is listed as their starter for Sun. 6/29, as per the Sounds' media notes.

Formally activated today...

I'm sure an outfielder from High A can hit better than .170 like Komatsu has done the last two years.

You could make an argument for Reed or Orf being bumped up I guess, but Taylor and Roache need to stay put. And it's not like Wisconsin OFs are banging down the door to get promoted to BC, either. Unlike signing Dillard, this is a mostly harmless move. To me at least.

From April 1st --

We don't want this thread to include full-blown "Alumni" updates (meaning going back indefinitely), but we will include updates on the most recent organizational releases.

RHP R.J. Seidel has signed with the infamous St. Paul Saints of the independent American Association.

The LaCrosse product was released by the Saints today.

Looks our old favorite, Cody Scarpetta, is still plenty nasty. I am sure there will be feature stories but just caught this quick on Twitter.

When Hainley Statia reports to Nashville from Huntsville (likely Saturday), the Sounds will need to make a move as they will be at 26 players.

Meanwhile and unrelated, the Manatees have been playing short at 24 players for a couple of days now.

Stars and Timber Rattlers at the full complement of 25.

This is an exciting tweet to wake up to --

Taking his .380 AVG and .973 OPS to Nashville! RT @HuntsvilleStars Congrats to C Shawn Zarraga on promotion to AAA

Looks like a busy transaction weekend will continue, certainly we'll hear about multiple Nashville moves this afternoon.

How long is Mitch Haniger on the shelf for???

Last played June 13th, there have been no updates on the status of Haniger's hyperextended elbow.

***

Others we wait on:

Huntsville 40-man roster RHP Brooks Hall, out since April 25th with "elbow irritation"

Wisconsin 2B Chris McFarland, out since May 21st with an ankle injury

Young catcher Dustin Houle, yet to debut in 2014 with two fractures in his hand

The other players sidelined have more recent injuries that have been detailed here. All in all, the DL lists are pretty lean, thankfully. Good job, Brewers training & strength staffs.

It is about time we get a Gord Ash update on Hall considering his 40-man roster status. We'll see if we can get a beat guy update on Brooks.
