LHP Neal Cotts and RHP Francisco Rodriguez (at a discount) would be ideal. I don't trust K-Rod as far as I can throw him, but I fear Broxton is going to be a disaster and K-Rod is more appealing than the other "closers" on the market.

Curious if Doug would have any interest in Edward Mujica... Sounds like Red Sox are willing to trade him.

 

He saved 37 games for Cards in 2013.

 

I think I would be OK with him being our Closer.

K-Rod > Broxton in my book. My guess is that Melvin is just waiting him out until he's willing to settle for a one year deal. Thatcher would be a nice add as well at a discounted rate.

I kind of agree that DM is only looking to add a reliever on the one year deal.

If I was KRod and had to sign for $5mill when we paid $3 mill for a guy who was going to hang up his cleats two years ago, then had ONE good year, and one bad year... I would be grumpy (I mean KRod).
