Open for business (part 2)

At this point, I find it hard to believe Kyle Lohse's family has any interest in Kyle Lohse.

I have interest in him... as our next pitching coach. Hopefully he'll realize the dream is over and work beside Counsell next year.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That I wouldn't mind, by all accounts he seems like a good guy. Unfortunately as far as ability goes he seems to have been one of those guys where when it was gone, it was gone in a HURRY, which is a shame for the guy.

Lohse will probably have several more solid-to-good years. Some people just think guys fall off cliffs and bad years are the end of a career. If that were the case, David Ortiz and Albert Pujols would have retired years ago. Jose Bautista and Nelson Cruz would never have gotten 2nd chances.

Usually not pitchers who will by 37, going on 38.

Several? He's going to be 37 at the start of next season. He'll be lucky if he's in the majors for another two years at his age, even if we disregard how awful he's been, which would be silly.

The players you listed were all younger than Lohse at the time of their second chances and all are position players. Lohse has mediocre stuff to begin with. If he loses a little bit of that or loses a little bit of control/command, he's going to get knocked around. That's exactly what's happened.
