  1. I make that deal every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
  2. Carpenter in Full Blown Maul.
  3. People are really assuming Hiura will be a full time contributor in the majors next year? That seems quite the stretch to me, maybe I am wrong.
  4. I give up Hiura for Realmuto. Obviously Hiura is a fantastic prospect, we all know that. But that being said there is no 100% guarantee he is a stud at the ML level. There have been plenty of "can't miss" guys who did indeed miss. Realmuto has a ML track record, we know what he is. He is one of the top catchers in the league and we have a gaping black hole at C. In your scenario of Realmuto and Castro, I'd offer Hiura, Ortiz, Nottingham, Gatewood and Bickford. I'd like to keep Ray as he seems to be putting it together finally but if he absolutely has to be part of the deal, then so be it.
  5. Our stretch of games coming out of the break is brutal. 7 against LA, 3 with Washington, SF and Colorado who aren't bad. I'm just not sure I want to do anything for a rental at this point, I just don't see it pushing us past the Cubs or Dodgers. I'd bring up Arcia again, play Villar more at 2nd and hope they turn things around. If I am giving up significant prospects I am going in for controllable assets, Realmuto, deGrom, etc. Not Dozier, Hamels, Eovaldi type gets.
  6. If I am the Brewers GM my deadlines moves are...on hold for the next 10 days or so until I see how the team responds to that horrific 1-7 road trip and the whole Hader controversy. If we come out of the break and go 3-7 our first 10 games and the Cubs are up 5 on us, I'm not so sure I don't just try and trade Knebel for something and call it a season. I know nobody wants to really hear that, but I don't want to sell off prospects for Dozier, Merrifield, etc. Those guys don't get us past the Cubs or the Dodgers now. Unfortunately.
  7. I want no part of Merrifield at some of the prices you are all suggesting. This is a 30 year old guy who has had 1 decent year. 3 for 1, 4 for 1? I run as far away from that as I can.
  8. Agreed. Baltimore seemingly went for quantity over quality here. Well, good luck, hope it pans out for them. I do not look forward to the inevitable Machado heroics this weekend at Miller Park.
  9. His tweets are horrific. And on top of that, his fiance's twitter has the same homophobic sentiments all over it. His 2 minute apology after the game last night didn't impress me at all, everyone deserves a second chance, but I find it hard to believe he and his fiance could post those things in the first place. What a disaster.
  10. Now that Machado seems to be a Dodger I wonder if LA would request he be switched to batting 3rd so he gets to start, but can be subbed out immediately so he doesn't have to field in those wet conditions.
  11. The issue is, right field was never really in question. It was always Santana's to lose. Braun wasn't going to move there, and we've all seen now how Yelich's arm in RF is a liability. I have no doubt it is a mental thing. And that sucks, because the guy arguably has more talent than anyone on the roster. I wouldn't place any bets saying that the Brewers are done with him, though. I imagine he'll be back in the bigs at some point. I just hope that is because he earned it, and not because the team didn't have another choice. I agree with you that RF shouldn't have been in question, but putting myself in Domingo's place I can see why had doubts. The club obviously got Cain and Yelich to be starters, leaving he and Braun to fight it out for 1 starting spot. With Braun's contract he wasn't going to get benched or traded leaving Santana as the odd man out no matter how unfair that might be. I had a lot of high hopes for him this year, I really hope he gets it together as every year I find it a little more difficult to justify Braun's spot on the squad.
  12. There's 3 options. 1. The man completely forgot how to hit. 2. It's a mental thing, as others suggested. He came into spring thinking he really had to prove himself to remain a starter, pressed too much and developed some bad habits. 3. He is injured and we don't know it. I doubt it's 1. 3 seems like if it were true at some point news would have got out by now. Leaves option 2...let's just hope this offseason he gets his head on straight and plays like he did last year. I would hate to sell so low on him.
  13. Good news, it looks like we'll see Machado playing at Miller Park this weekend! Bad news, he will probably be wearing a Dodger uniform.

  15. That Vegas page is odd, they speculate we'd plug Machado in at 3rd and move Shaw to first. I guess Aguilar just rides the bench in that scenario. Weird.
  16. I believe "Pitcher" is actually spelled "deGrom".
  17. I was a lot more interested in this thread 10 days ago, and I hate to admit it but going into the break on a 1-7 note has just sucked a lot of the fun out of this for me and I hate that. Good luck to Machado wherever he ends up.
  18. If they miss out on Machado, I would focus on whatever upgrade gives us the most bang for the buck and that to me is clearly Realmuto. Going from Pina to him is a much bigger boost than Villar to Dozier or Miller/Saladino to Escobar. He's also not just a rental. I know it would cost a ton to get him, but we have Cain, Yelich, Shaw, Aguilar, etc for another few years at their prime, may as well go for it now and try to get a front line starter via free agency in the offseason.
  19. Which bench player do you have more faith in than Chacin that can get a hit at this point? Suter or Woodruff.
  20. At this point there has to be pressure to make the postseason. You can't have this good of a first half and then fold up like a cheap tent yet again. We collapsed in 2014, 2017 and if it happens again this year that's 3 times in 5 years. Someone is going to have to answer for that, I would assume. I also don't think you acquire Yelich and Cain before the season only to sit back and say "Well maybe in a few years it'll pay off." You do that if you think your window to win is open now. I understand we've been hit by a ton of injuries, and yes next year we should have Nelson/Davies back to full health, but even with them back you know someone else is going to get hurt or have a down year, it'll all balance out in the end. I don't know what the best deal to make is this summer, but Stearns cannot just sit on his hands and hope for the best, not after such a great start.
  21. That lineup...Shaw at 1st. Spots 4 through 9 look borderline hopeless. I really hope this day doesn't turn out to be as bad as I am fearing.
