I would be a little concerned on why they are getting rid of him. He has been quite servicable during his career. Might be more than just a rough spring.

His spring has been rough, but he gave up all his runs in 4 outings.

 

I have to say I'm pretty surprised that they didn't give him a shot in April given his numbers the last 3 years, but I'm not at all familiar with the Pirates' bullpen situation so maybe he was holding up someone else, although that seems unlikely.

 

I guess it's either this guy for almost $3M (Scooter's money) or Scahill for way less, maybe I'd just prefer we go with Scahill.

Such a low ceiling for Hughes probably isn't worth it even if he pitches well.
