How good are the minor league coaches?

I know some follow the minors religously - I myself dabble a little here and there.

I usually read the chat wrap each week on ESPN from Jim Callis and he always talking about the various prospects within each farm system.

The Brewer players are always ranked high - but never the "best"

I remember reading that Braun was clearly rated behind Gordon and Zimmerman.

Zimmerman has an OPS of .737

Gordon has an OPS of .680

Braun has an OPS of 1.054

I also remember YoGa always being in the second rung of pitchers coming though the minor league system. He was good - but not on a par with Hughes, Bailey, or Lincecum.

Hughes ERA = 3.37

Lincecum ERA = 4.62

Bailey ERA = 6.99

Gallardo ERA = 3.37

We always heap praise on our scouts and Jack Z for finding all of these gems. But thoughout the minors they are still considered "lesser" players than other.

So my question is - are our drafts that great? Are we smarter than everyone else?

or...

Do we just have a fantastic system in place where these kids are learning how to play baseball from coaches who are better teachers than the other teams have in their system? (Seems to me the coaches must be doing a bang up job!)

Our guys are not in the system of the mets, yanks, boston, or any other big market team. I really believe they hype the guys with those teams so they can market and make them big once they come up. But maybe that is just me.

Great point. It really says alot for the Brewers player development that not only have so many prospects succeeded, but so many have been instant hits. The Angels had ton of big time position player prospects lately too, but theres have taken forever to adjust to big league baseball.
