Is this some crazy CC hunch that Aguilar will suddenly re-discover how to hit against a right-hander he's 0-7 with 3 K's against?

Doubt it. Can only hop Archer stays a pumpkin and doesn't revert back to some solid pitcher.

Unless Gamel is banged up, why would he sit after the way he hit yesterday?

If they are going with a righty 1B would have been a nice chance to start Braun over there with Gamel in LF.

Gamel sitting is nothing compared to Thames sitting versus a RHP. Hopefully the hunch is right.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I think he drew names out of a hat for this one...

Why sit Gamel and put Lo back at lead-off?

Yesterday was great, now we go in another direction totally?

On a roster loaded up with LH bat options, it's a borderline travesty to field this lineup against a RH starter with a slider in his repertoire...especially a RH-heavy lineup that is forcibly inserting a 1B who is struggling when a LH power bat 1B sits on the pine.

With all that said, hope they spring for 10 runs again - but this just feels like CC being silly on the last day of May.

Braun isn't ready to be put out to full platoon pasture yet, he needs regular at bats and has been productive. Now Aguilar over Thames is another story but again probably felt Aggy needs to get AB's if he is going to break out of this.

Braun should be playing right now. He’s been our second best bat we’ve had. Cain and Aguilar on the other hand can have a days off. Aguilar especially.

I went back and read some of the posts from the 48 page Archer thread in the rumors section. Some posters REALLY wanted us to get Archer, and proposed some crazy packages. I’m glad we didn’t pony up for him then, and sure hope we continue to prove that decision correct by knocking him around tonight.

Thank goodness Chacín gone after this year.

Weird thing to say, considering he may have been our most consistent starter last year. Also, giving up a slow roller after forgetting about the runner is just crummy luck.

Also a pretty big assumption that he’s going to be gone.

Last year good, this year not good. Imo, he’s our worst starter this year.

Let me put it another way:

Next year we should have 6-7 better rotation options than Chacín.
