I don't now what is more tortorous: Bettinger getting lit up again to put this out of reach, or if this ends in another 5-4 defeat.

I feel like every year we have numerous games where we end up needing a big hit off the bench and have to go with a trash lefty/lefty matchup. Is it that difficult to construct a lineup and bench with some balance?

[sarcasm]INF/OF Hernán Pérez has been signed to a Minor League contract and assigned to Triple-A Nashville.[/sarcasm]

Haha.

I mean honestly, I know against the lefty you are going to have most of your righties in there, but you'd think especially on a bullpen day you'd want at least one righty on your bench. Seems like they go a little overboard every year on their lefties and end up in this situation regularly.

From Adam McCalvy...

The Brewers have been outscored by a 29-4 margin in the first three innings of their last six games.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

When you only have like 4 position players on the bench, and one of those is the backup catcher, there aren’t likely to be a lot of good PH options if you have to start using them in the 4th inning.

Like it matters when they are essentially throwing in the towel with the pitchers they’re forced to use. It’s pretty likely the Marlins will be getting to double digits today as they continue to look like a much better team than the Brewers.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The Marlins actually know how to hit a baseball.

If this is a lost Yelich season I would guess that this is closer to a 75 win team than a 90 win team.

If they don't right the ship soon we'll be lucky if we win 75. We have no Hiura, Yelich, Narvaez, Pina, Anderson, Lindblom, Burnes...the list goes on and on.

Urias got robbed on a nice liner and he got credot for a double that he didn't really deserve. I guess it works out

Bettinger looks much better than his start against the Dodgers. Still needs to work on consistently placing the breaking ball where it needs to be versus major league hitters. But maybe some progress being shown.

A big chunk their preferred starters are on the DL (Burnes, Anderson, Narvaez, Yelich) they’ve had a tough schedule to start the year, and Miami can pitch... they’ll be okay

It would suck to be Nottingham.

He knows damn well he is gone as soon as Narvy and Pina return...

He shouldn't be. Maile is trash.

You think they will keep 3 catchers?

Both Maile and Nottingham are goners when they get back.

All I said was that if it's a lost year for Yelich, I'd put them closer to a 75 win team than a 90...so basically without Yelich I'd take the under on 82.5.

That seems optimistic to me, frankly.

Nottingham is nothing special, but honestly there are probably 5 to 10 guys on this roster that deserve to be DFAed before he gets it again. I can't even really make any case for Vogelbach keeping a spot over Nottingham other than Vogelbach being left handed.
