I want to thank MLB and MiLB for the new "every Monday off" scheduling.

Link Reports gets a day off each week, although the pesky DSL and Maryvale games may come around soon enough. :ohwell

As I rule I don't usually pay that much attention to A-ball relievers, but man Evan Reifert striking out I think seven of the first nine batters he has faced is a way to start a career.

Nashville and Toledo's Series Finale Postponed

Makeup Game to be Played in Nashville During August Series

Sunday afternoon’s game between the Nashville Sounds and Toledo Mud Hens was postponed due to rain at Fifth Third Field.

A makeup date for the postponed contest will be announced at a later time and will be played at First Horizon Park when the Mud Hens visit Nashville August 3-8. With the postponement, the Sounds return home to Nashville on a three-game winning streak.

The Sounds welcome the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, to First Horizon Park beginning Tuesday, May 11 for the first of a six-game series.

Right-hander Thomas Jankins is Nashville’s scheduled starter for Opening Day. The Redbirds have yet to announce a starter.

Long Ball Undoes Shuckers In Series Finale With Barons

Bats Come Alive With Seven Extra-Base Hits for Biloxi

Pre-Game Media Notes

18-year-old Jhonnys Cabrera made his AA (and stateside) debut, striking out as a pinch-hitter in the 9th.

Switch-hitting 20-year-old middle infielder Daniel Castillo, up from Maryvale, grounded out in his 9th inning pinch-hit appearance. He had eight plate appearances in the six games.

Surely it will shake itself out, but the Shuckers roster seems a bit underwhelming and disjointed, and that's not just a reaction to the 1-5 start.

Day off for Brice Turang.

Box score hero - first man out of the pen RHP Jake Cousins, who saved LHP Cody Beckman's line from further damage by getting the final out of the 2nd with the bases loaded, then pitched a scoreless 3rd inning.

Via the Barons -- two minutes of their many highlights (and Biloxi lowlights), set to music that the Rocky series of movies might have integrated.
