"You can't throw something down the middle. Arenado is going to have the green light on 3-0.,"

Like, seriously with this? A walk and a homerun are basically the same thing, Jeff. Yes, you absolutely can throw something down the middle.

My favorite is when he plays mindreader by telling us what someone is thinking and gives us imaginary quotes.

Better win this game because your best reliever is tanked for the next game, maybe two.

Did I miss when JP came in the game?

I will never understand why so many Brewer fans just poo-pooed the Arenado deal like it wasn't that great for the Cardinals but thought the Yelich extension was the greatest thing ever.

I wish he had started throwing the ball down the middle on the first pitch instead of falling behind 3-0.

Now the tying run is at the plate as Hader’s pitch count approaches 30.

Molina hitting a tying HR would be too much to take.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Jealousy. Arenado is a stud. He would have fit perfectly on this Brewer team. But he's a Cardinal now, so I hope he's only average from now on.

Had to have that one.

Burnes 3 weeks removed from his last good outing and a short bullpen behind him is going to be tough.

Did I think that? I know Ive been concerned how he would recover from that kneecap.

Arenado, I don't think anyone believed he'd be traded for such a small return with money included. He's still being paid more yearly than Yelich. The trade occurred after Yelich's extension after pandemic. Hard sell to fit that one.

Should have Feyereisen and Rasmussen, and Burnes is still really good. If we can score a few I like our chances.

I'm not sure if you thought that, but I wasn't calling you out specifically.

It's true that Arenado will make more than Yelich, but the Cardinals will be on the hook for less (roughly 21M annually).

You have to take into account the Coors effect. Is Arenado still worth about $20m+ a season when you take him out of Coors?

I am not sure I would want Arenado at that much and taking him out of Coors. Yelich and his recent injuries is a concern but I am going to take Yelich as his offense is more of a known than Arenado's outside of Coors and playing in a more pitchers friendly ballpark in St. Louis.

I was thinking the same thing……..I can’t believe an announcer for a MLB team is that stupid……..truly amazing.

This umpire is just horrific. I honestly cannot believe that the job production of some of these guys couldn't be replaced by some random baseball fan with no noticeable difference.

Tonight’s home plate ump, John Libka, is typically a very good ball/strike umpire. He had an incredible game in his last time behind the plate: LINK

Following up on this, Libka is actually incredibly good at accurately calling the strike zone. He is only 33-years old and isn’t even a full-time umpire nor a member of the Umpires Association. Just listened to them talk about him on the Effectively Wild podcast, and it’s sort of fascinating to hear and see the data of how good this umpire that nobody knows and gets shuttled back-and-forth to Triple-A has been since 2017.

Here’s a link to the podcast: Effectively Wild Episode 1692. They discuss Libka starting at the 43-minute mark.

Also, that podcast page has a bunch of links to data showing the most accurate umps by ball/strike calls including this Google Doc spreadsheet of umpires lifetime accuracy.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

So what is Yellich worth in Colorado? Why should a player make more in CO? Don't all players benefit from playing there? Don't the Rockies play half of their games outside of CO?

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I think DJ LeMahieu has proven that Coors-bred players can excel outside of that environment.
