2021-05-13: Cardinals (Flaherty) at Brewers (Burnes) [Brewers lose, 2-0 -- Burnes sets strikeout record and finally issues his first walk; Good pitching and defense goes for naught]

Urias can’t throw to first, but he saved a run with the throw there.

Getting tired of seeing-eye bloops and ten-hoppers getting through while the Brewers have had some hard shots result in outs. Plus, I hate the Cardinals.

Right. Brewers have hit very few balls hard in the last two games and it seems most of them snagged by really good D plays by the Cards. Classic playing the cardinals stuff, I think they were bad on D last year but that seems rare for them. Of course the weird Bader play did give them a run yesterday though

In 263 career plate appearances versus the Brewers, Flaherty has allowed a 254/319/466 batting line versus a career line of 202/278/346.

Brewers have had good fortune against him in the past. Not sure how this particular lineup who couldn't do anything against a bum like Gant yesterday is going to fare, though.

The stats linked at the top of this thread suggest that most of that past success came from players not on the current roster. They bombed Flaherty in a game last year, but I’m afraid he’s going to cruise through this lineup like most everyone else has.

I hate when these streaming channels shrink or remove the screen for the game to show someone they’re interviewing.

I mean why is 50% of the screen not the game or interview? lol

Such a national TV thing. That is when they do these dumb interviews.

Why are they doing this interview while Burnes ties the record?!?!

A record tied and here they are interviewing. Idiots.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Inside jokes during an already-lame interview suck. Deviled eggs and Mario Kart. Spare me. Show me baseball.

"Go ahead. Try to disagree with me. I dare you." Jeffrey Leonard.

Okay, to be fair, Wainwright is kind of a fitting guy to interview while he breaks the record. At least there wasn't awkward talk while he broke it.

Wainwright was actually really cool - he knew it was coming, so he paused and then changed the subject to Burnes.

Good on Wainwright. Bad on these broadcasters.

He was very natural and fairly insightful on things imo. Heck, he sounded better than Holliday. Could see him having a future on TV, easily locally for STL if wants

Way to hustle Shaw. Could be on third, if he had just been running at half speed instead of strolling.

It seemed like the play by play guy was trying to interrupt when it got to the second strike, but the other announcer was totally oblivious and talked over him.

That's a lonely feeling.

Also, lol at the official scorer ruling that a double.

Yah, literally no way that is a hit. He camped under it until he realized it was much further.
