Seems like they pitched around Escobar completely to get to Yelich. Probably a smart play in terms of putting the double play back into the equation.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Somehow I could see that coming. Yelich has been back in the doldrums the last few days.

Cards win. Now they are the team to watch for the magic number.

Stays at 5 for today.

Seriously. We need to get him used to hitting 7th if he has to play. Do it for the kids. And the playoffs. He’s not coming back this year.

I'd honestly be fine with him hitting leadoff. Otherwise, yes.

I’d blame others if Yelich contributed. Other than JBJ, he’s our worst offensive option in the OF statistically. And our worst defensive option unless Peterson is included. They gotta stop hoping he turns it around. And only one person rolled over a GIDP with the bases loaded. I think it’s ok to saddle him with this one. That said, the performance by Freddy (as well as Williams) were more important than the outcome.

Come on, jack. The only Brewer with a higher OBP on the season is Jace Peterson. If you were running this game in a computer sim and wanted to insert the player of your choice with the bases loaded there, Yelich was arguably the best choice even if you are only going off his 2021 stats. Sometimes it's just not our night.

(Does anyone actually care if we lose any of these games? I am in zen mode knowing that we are already going to win the division. :laughing )

I’d like to see them play well but not concerned about wins at all. Just want them to be getting ready for playoffs. But to be fair, Yelly has the 11th best OBP post all star game, ahead of only Narvaez and JBJ. And has been slugging under .400 all year. I’d love for him to bounce back, but putting him in big spots jeopardizes our ability to score runs, which will be tough to come by against better teams.

Dear Baby Jesus-

If we can’t sit Yelich can we at least not bat him 3rd?

It is a shame what Yelich has become. This isn't your run of the mill slump. I fear he may never be what he once was. :(
