I know he was safe but boy to MLB infielders make that play look like it is easy. It is not.

Houser has been very good in the rotation this year. I was huge on getting him back to the pen and I'll gladly say I was wrong there. BUT, I wouldn't mind seeing him in the pen come the post-season. I would go with him and Ashby as your long-men with Burnes, Woody, Peralta, and Lauer as your starters.

Agreed. I think it makes a lot of sense to have a lefty start, and Lauer has been great. Houser is a guy who all year I've considered to be a post season bullpen weapon. That's taking nothing away from what he's done this year.

Him and Ashby will probably be used more often than a typical "long man" would be used, but that's more or less what I'm expecting for playoff pitching. Normally when i think long reliever, I think of a guy to come in and pitch when the starter gets shelled after 2 innings and you're pretty much losing the game...Houser/Ashby are obviously too good for that type of role. I prefer "multi-inning weapon". If you were to power rank our top 5 relievers while including Ashby/Houser in that group, both are in the top 5.

I guess Tyrone Taylor can't figure out how this Wainwright has lasted so long in the bigs.

Wainwright would have retired years ago if Taylor had made the majors sooner.

ETA: Fact!

Before the shift that was a hit every time, now it's an out at least half of the time. Every time with slower runners.

If the one player who has produced more offense than any other in the lineup this week is physically unable to play 4 days in a row without injuring himself again, the Brewers have another problem to worry about.

#FreezingColdTake alert LOL

Right now, I'm totally ok with Garcia having the day off, ceding his spot to Taylor

18 innings against the Cardinals and only 1 ER for Houser? I did not know this. Good stuff.

Yea if we play the Cardinals in the NLCS we might want to think about getting Houser a start.

Anybody but Brett Anderson! :laughing

I wish Escobar didn't have the skinny jean look to his uniform. It's almost bad enough that I don't want to see him signed in the offseason.

Nice of Houser to give them some hope today.

It would have been possible to have both Garcia and Taylor in the lineup. Can you think of any corner outfielders who have been less productive than Garcia recently?

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Add in some runs against this guy. Just remember his last appearance and repeat it.

That guy isn't fighting several nagging injuries. Also, the only way he's got a chance of getting it going is getting ABs right now.

But my post was meant as a lighthearted jab at the "doom and gloom" stuff ;)
