It has been a long time since the Brewers have had much in the way of an obstacle. Perhaps not coincidentally, they are losing their way a bit in the short term. They seem to be finding an obstacle now, and I think it will serve them well. In fact I think it’s good they’re getting bloodied up a bit now. I’d rather they enter the postseason having already taken a punch and shaken it off than being mentally unprepared for when it inevitably comes.

If we lose today, it really is not hard to come up with a scenario that the Cardinals enter the last series against us with control over their own destiny for the division.

 

It's actually impossible, because we are 3 wins from clinching regardless of what the cardinals do. So theoretically even if we lose today, all 3 against the mets, all against the Cardinals, we can still sweep the Dodgers and clinch. This is all hypothetical of course. Most likely we clinch this weekend.

Additionally, the Mets team coming to town is playing for absolutely nothing and is playing worse baseball than the Brewers over the past week. The Brewers play the last week or so has been frustrating and not what you want to see heading into the post-season, but the sky isn't falling even if they lose this game.
