Hader 2018: 81 IP | 60 ERA- | 54 FIP- | 2.6 rWAR | +3.30 WPA
Hader 2019: 75 IP | 59 ERA- | 69 FIP- | 2.8 rWAR | +3.15 WPA
Hader 2021: 58 IP | 29 ERA- | 39 FIP- | 3.4 rWAR | +5.05 WPA

I've got no problem with using Hader in the traditional closer's role. He provided more value in fewer innings in 2021 than he did with his fireman role in 2018/19.

Im ok with this too.

Plus the brewers have or have had other very strong bullpen arms to compliment him.   You dont need to use him so much

You're oversimplifying this to the point it's a significantly flawed comparison. There's no guarantee Hader's skill as a pitcher didn't increase. You don't know if he would have been more valuable as a traditional closer in 18/19 or as a fireman role in 21. He went from an 80+% fastball pitcher in 18/19 to around 65% in 21.

No doubt, his skill level changed in addition to his role & maybe if he was used similarly to 2018/19 in 2021 he would have provided more value, or maybe he would have been more fatigued with additional usage & the bottom line results would have suffered as a result.

Hader's +5.05 WPA in 2021 was tops in all of MLB, not just among relievers but all pitchers. There is a lot more room for his performance to decrease with a role change than there is for it to improve.

13-7 and it feels so good. I don't care how they Win. I LOVE it. Really nice to see Devin is taking the 2021 course back to dominancing. It really is hard to complain when you are 13-7. Game over before the draft? This is a beautiful Thursday.

Runs!

Nice that Yelich started this too. Hopefully it leads to a run of usefulness.

I wasn’t able to watch the later innings … I had to work

Did Yelich get a solid hit?

Bunt single. Not really what he is getting paid to do, but smart baseball nonetheless.

Great! I like smart baseball.

So glad it wasn’t another ground out to 2nd base.

I would love to see Yelich have ONE game similar to Adames earlier in the week (4 for 5 - 2 HR, double, 7 RBI) … I believe it would do so much for his confidence

It would do even more for OUR confidence!

I wouldn't be opposed to trying that. A different perspective may just get him going. Who knows? It couldn't hurt.

Wishful thinking. The guy is baked. How much more do you really need to see, 3 more years?

Sheesh. Aren't you a breath of fresh air LOL. I suggest you get on board with hoping that Yelich can become a productive player, because at his salary, he isn't going anywhere.
