Which is why I say “if that continues”.

If the number 3 spot is vacant, the 4 and 5 starters have to pull their weight.

And Woodruff has to build on last night’s start and show that his problems from the first part of the season are behind him.

Or maybe Woodruff doesn't have to show anything because he's already put together three straight seasons of Top 10 pitching and possesses stable peripheral numbers while his ERA is held up by a rough opening start in frozen Chicago following a shortened spring training.

I am not sure what you are expecting from 4/5 starters it seems to be an unrealistic expectation.  Your 4/5 starters are normally going to be 4-5 ERA pitchers which means they are going to have more blowup games.

Houser and Lauer are probably the best 4/5 starters in the whole league.  You are not going to get Burnes or Woodruff type of results from them.  Maybe once or twice a month but that is about it.  These starts will even out over the course of a season.

Houser will be fine and Lauer will be fine.  No the Brewers don’t need them to be better than your “typical” starting pitcher.

I’m expecting better than the ERA’s in the 5’s and 6’s that they posted in June. Between giving up a lot of runs and forcing the bullpen into the game early, that is a problem.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

That's the point. Their track records indicate that it likely won't continue. Neither are the bad pitchers we've seen the last few weeks.

Winning is fun. This team is capable of much more than just "beating up on the Cubs, Reds, and Pirates". Now, hopefully Alcantara tosses one of his complete game gems against the Cardinals tonight.

Nice little sweep. Perhaps this team WILL in fact win more than 82 games.

Yes they could easily get to 83 wins playing like this

A win tomorrow and the Brewers would finish June at 13-14, which is pretty impressive given the 8 game losing streak.

Guessing Box, Williams, Hader will all be resting tomorrow.

When was that.  I live in N. Fort Myers so we get all of the Marlins game (along with the Rays).

Probably 2012

I’m assuming houser will shut them tomorrow anyways.   At least that’s what I’ve been reading here

No you haven't been reading that. All you've read is that Houser has a track record of being a solid starter and that he's better than the average MLB 5th option. Literally no one is expecting Houser to pitch shutouts. Just to keep us in games at the very least similar to how Lauer did today.

Since I didn't catch the game, I played "blind score guess based on IGT" again and predicted 4-2 Brewers.  Not too far off.  Nice positivity today!
