The AAA Reds show up just in time for the Brewers to right the ship.

The Reds are about as good as the Pirates and we all saw what happened there.  I'm almost glad I won't be able to see much of tonight's game...

i don't think I have EVER said this in August, especially the 1st week of August, but tonight is a must win. They need a few wins to get try to erase all of the bad juju from this week. I have been defending management this week, but that doesn't mean it haven't been a bad week, probably one of the worse in recent memory for the Brewers, from just bad luck with the roster decisions to blowing late leads. Winning is what will cure it.

Who in the Brewer's TV FO comes up with these broadcasting fiascos( YouTube/Apple TV)?I suppose it isn't their choice. Is Apple TV anywhere on the Spectrum tv listings? Guess I'll just watch Gold Rush on the Discovery network.

We all needed the off day yesterday. Oh wait they just played like it was an off day. lol.
If you ever needed a sweep before, this may be it. We are now tied with STL AND PHIL. It really is a 3 team race for 2 spots. We have work to do!

This is on MLB as they decide who is on YouTube which is easy to watch not sure what the issue is here and Apple TV.  This is set when the TV schedule is made.  The Brewers have no control over this.  Apple TV can only be viewed through the Apple TV app I believe.  I haven't checked the cable stuff as I don't have cable so no idea if you can access it via cable.

I can get the Apple TV app on my iPad, on my smart TV, or through a Roku streaming device.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I am not going to call any game or series with this much time left a “must win“, but because the Brewers have been treading water for the last three months, and undid most of the value of winning seven out of eight by losing the next four, I see this as a series in which anything less than a sweep is a lost opportunity.

The Brewers have fewer games remaining against the worst teams in the NL (Reds, Pirates, Cubs, and Nats,) than the Phillies and Cardinals do. If the Brewers can’t start banking wins against some of these teams, it’s going to be very difficult to make them up somewhere else.

The Brewers have already squandered an opportunity by losing 7 of their last 8 against the Pirates and Cubs. If they don’t start turning that around they might be digging themselves into a big hole when they face the Cardinals and Dodgers in the next two weeks.

Cardinals play the Yankees this weekend while we get the Reds. Need to take advantage of this opportunity. Hopefully the team can get over their collective whining about the Hader trade and get back to playing good baseball.

I've never bought into this bad team/good team stuff regarding the schedule. What they've shown me this season is that they can easily win a sufficient % of games to win their division providing they find their watermark and play to that level consistently. HOW you're playing, rather than WHO. This isn't the NFL. I'd love a sweep this weekend. But I'll be happy with 2 out of 3, providing they can consistently do that. That's been the key to their success in the past, and it's predicated on pitching & defense, both of which have been lousy.

When you get to the final X number of games, then the schedule can play into it more. But right now they just need to get back to what's made them successful.

It's definitely a must win in my book.  As in, they must win a game first before I decide to burn my limited bandwidth streaming them now that I'm back up in Bethel, AK.

Good grief, but I guess this is just a continuation from the disaster with this team since the trade deadline.

Is that a question or are you boasting?

If that was a question, I believe it's available for iPad and Roku for sure.  I am not sure about the smart TV, but they have listings you can get here (https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-app/)  You just have to scroll down until your hand numbs then keep going for another 10 minutes.

Somebody asked the question how you can get Apple TV and I was just responding with how I access it.

If you have an apple device you can sign up for a 7-day free trial.  I don't know if all the streaming/SmartTV devices offer the 7 day trial.  You can also get 1-year of AppleTV free from T-Mobile (if you are a subscriber).  There are also other ways as I have more than a year left on my subscription after the last free offer was applied. I haven't paid for it for more than a year, but can't remember all the ways to get it free (I stop reading after "1-year free" and just click on the link).

Whenever fans get upset about a losing streak or getting swept in a series by one of the worst teams in the league, someone is sure to come out with some variation of the mantra that “all teams go through things like this.”

I just heard that the Braves have not lost 3 straight games all season, and I confirmed that by looking at their game by game results. So, it is not impossible for a team to avoid losing streaks. Throw in a 14 game winning streak and you have the makings of a good season.

This came up on the Mets- Braves telecast because the Braves have lost two in a row, one to the Phillies and one to the Mets. They have jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning tonight.

The game is free on Apple TV. You don’t need a subscription, trial or otherwise.

My bad.  I thought the first time it was free, but they are doing this season as free?

And the team with the best record in the majors, the Dodgers, got swept in 3 different 3-game series during this season, including once by the Pirates.

All teams go through stretches where they don't play well. But you're right, the long losing streaks are avoidable. The key to making a, say, 12-game stretch of not playing well 5-7 as opposed to 2-10 is defending well (we haven't been), pitching (hasn't always been poor but certainly isn't at the level we're used to) and if you aren't a consistent offensive juggernaut you have to find ways to squeeze across a run here & there (we're not really built that way).

Pitch & defend better, and the home run or two, likely with no one on base, can be a difference maker.

Sure, it happens to most teams but not all.

Playing under .500 ball for 3 full months does not happen for most good teams, and only things like weak divisions and expanded playoff formats keep those teams in the playoff discussion.
