All teams go through stretches where they don't play well. But you're right, the long losing streaks are avoidable. The key to making a, say, 12-game stretch of not playing well 5-7 as opposed to 2-10 is defending well (we haven't been), pitching (hasn't always been poor but certainly isn't at the level we're used to) and if you aren't a consistent offensive juggernaut you have to find ways to squeeze across a run here & there (we're not really built that way).

Pitch & defend better, and the home run or two, likely with no one on base, can be a difference maker.

Another cliche is that having an ace starting pitcher or two prevents those long losing streaks. That doesn’t work when the aces have bad games or the team can’t score any runs.

Burnes had a couple of his worst outings of the season during the Brewers losing streak in June, and Burnes and Woodruff couldn’t prevent this week’s sweep.

BTW, I brought up the Braves situation more because of how eye opening it is. I remember a couple of years ago I was impressed that the Dodgers hadn’t lost 4 in row, and this year when I heard how few series the Mets and Yankees have lost.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Anyone else debating watching AAA instead of The major league team these days? hopefully the brewers can wake up…

My all-time how-did-they-do-that is the 2010 Packers.  They never trailed by more than a touchdown the entire season!  Really?  How Did They Do That?  In baseball would that be never losing by more than 3 runs?  4?  2?

I guess this game won’t be starting for awhile.

40 year anniversary of the 1982 team celebration.  Our moment in the sun!

I have firestick, the app was already in the library.  A code came on the screen and my face login on my phone was enough to start the stream.  No sign up or credit card needed.

Maybe they're just going to re-enact the NLCS clinching game instead of playing tonight.

Can't wait for next year's 41st anniversary celebrations.

The Braves not losing 3 straight games this year reminds me of Green Bay not trailing by more than 7 points in any game in a year (that happened within the last decade).

Both of these stats are the exception - certainly not normal.

I don't really get the saltiness about the 82 celebration. Whether we like it or not, it's still the greatest and most memorable team in our history and this is probably the last time many of the key principals will all be here (Uecker, Selig, etc.).

I see how it is. Let's just not call strikes and help the Reds out...

Votto should have been called out on a high 3rd strike on the 2-2 pitch

We don’t need the umps helping our opponents

We are not much better than many of these teams

Our starters have been off for several days now

I don’t remember the last 3 up 3 down 1st inning

Sure looks like it on GameDay.

Micro zone.

Is there any way to listen to the radio broadcast instead of the terrible apple tv announcers like you can on the youtube broadcasts?

She said that Lauer was “called up”, then mentioned Rowdy not holding the runner when the bases were loaded…. Thought those were odd.
