Is it possible to make them use a double : or a [ or {?  It is annoying when listing Catcher: and getting a smiley emoji.  Example C:: Instead of C:?

I’m on vacation right now but this has annoyed me for years. I’ll try to remember to look into it when I get back.

For the time being, it appears all I can do is remove automatic emojis that render when you type something like :). But you can still use emojis through the menu or by typing something like "colon-smiley-colon" (spelled out so the system doesn't fill in an emoji for me).

Does the framework allow you to look at the most recently typed items on the client side and render items immediately in the editor?  It would automatically change "semicolon / right parenthesis" (I spelled it out so it wouldn't automatically change it) to a winky smiley.  The person could hit undo or control-z to go back to the actual text.

Crazy... I know... ;-)

That's a possible long-term fix, though I'd have to dig into the RTE and see how it triggers the transition to an emoji.
