The Brewers (and Twins) are getting hosed on television rights

I really don’t see the owners doing anything about sharing tv revenue or to make the haves an have nots have closer revenue because most owners don’t really think there is a problem.

100% agree on this. Nothing will change with the current structure unless the owners want a level playing field.

Owners AND union. I may even argue that the union cares less about competitive balance than the owners.

The union absolutely cares less about competitive balance. It's also not really their job to care, other than vaguely in the interest of "general health of the sport". The union represents its players, who generally have very short careers relative to MLB owners.

The union also has far less influence over how owners distribute their funds, which is the core of the issue here.

The union cares exclusively about what percent of the pie the players get. I don't think they care quite as much how the owners share their portion of revenue amongst themselves so long as the players get their cut. If the owners came up with a new structure that involved a cap/floor and massive revenue sharing, as long as they all got their cut I just don't think the players/union would care too much. I could be wrong.

This is my take as well. Like most organizations, what the MLBPA cares about is money.

Because it is what I do, I did the math to breakout the numbers a bit more. Oddly, this is one area to not want to be the Mets. But plenty of people getting 1.5-5x the dollar per viewer share than we.  Certainly "potential" viewers contributes to that, but Milwaukee viewership has been pretty steady for a while (result of winning for many years).

       Revenue Rate     RR/Brewers RR
Colorado Rockies  $    57,000,000      15,000  $        3,800 495%
Detroit Tigers  $    60,000,000      47,000  $        1,277 166%
Houston Astros  $    73,000,000    109,000  $           670 87%
KC Royals  $    45,000,000      37,000  $        1,216 158%
LA Angels  $  112,000,000      47,000  $        2,383 311%
LA Dodgers  $  196,000,000    120,000  $        1,633 213%
Miami Marlins  $    49,000,000      11,000  $        4,455 580%
Milwaukee Brewers  $    33,000,000      43,000  $           767 100%
Minnesota Twins  $    42,000,000      47,000  $           894 116%
NYM  $    88,000,000    180,000  $           489 64%

Revenue Rate is simply dividing Revenue by Viewer Share

Ratio is simply everyone's RR divided by Brewer RR as a percentage.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."
