The Sounds and Saints have resumed yesterday's rain-delayed game with Nashville leading 3-2 in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

LHP Robert Gasser (4.70 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 10.2 K/9 in 23 IP) entered to relieve yesterday's starter, Pedro Fernandez.

Gasser's command continuing to be a major issue. 

3 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 SO, 1 HBP today. He had a bases loaded HBP and BB. Took him 84 pitches to get through 3 innings. Only 45 of 84 were strikes and only 29 of 84 were in the strike zone.

Getting to be a bit alarming how poor his command has been since he got to AAA.

Unfortunately when he wasn't getting strikeouts today he was giving up a lot of hard contact. 7 balls in play against him and 4 were hard hit.

Since he got to AAA he has a 4.95 ERA, 5.6 BB/9, 1.2 HBP/9. He's giving up 1.7 H+BB+HBP per inning since he got to AAA.

Nashville dropped that continuation game. And now their regularly-scheduled Saturday game has been pushed to a Sunday doubleheader, beginning at 12;07pm central time.

AA Biloxi is tied 2-2 through 4 games in Montgomery, with RHP Tobias Myers (4.18 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 12.5 K/9 in 23.2 IP) starting tonight. SS Freddy Zamora (.237 AVG, .827 OPS in 71 PAs) gets his first start since Tuesday.

High-A Wisconsin has lost 4 in a row in Peoria, but gets RF Hendry Mendez back for his first game since April 13. RHP Alexander Cornielle (3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 11.5 K/9 in 13.1 IP) makes his 4th start of 2023.

The Low-A Mudcats are up 3 games to 1 on the road against Delmarva and have red-hot RHP Alexander Vallecillo (1.29 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, 12.2 K/9 in 14 IP) making his 3rd start (5th appearance) tonight. 18-year old CF Luis Lara is off to a nice start through 4 games (.357 AVG).

The four Saturday losses drop our affiliates to 7-12 on the week and 52-53 on the season.

We need to win 3 of 5 games on Sunday to get back to even this year.

How could anyone still be griping about the Hader trade? We got 5 years of control of William Contreras, Joel Payamps, and Justin Yeager for a player we received in the Hader trade. 
 

I’ll take Contreras, Payamps, and Yeager every day of the week over one and a third seasons of Josh Hader
