Robert Gasser’s 88th pitch results in a ground ball double to left field that nearly scores an insurance run for Durham, but a Jahmai Jones - Patrick Dorrian - Payton Henry relay gets the runner at home. Hopefully that wakes up Nashville’s offense.

We trail 1-0 going into the 7th inning.

Alexander Cornielle has struck out 6 Sky Carp through 3 innings, but back-to-back doubles in the 3rd inning allowed one run across.

Timber Rattlers are down 1-0 going into the 4th inning.

LHP Darrell Thompson's first action in 11 days is a struggle: 106mph single, K, two walks with pitches not close. But LHP Ethan Small bails him out, stranding all 3 baserunners (pop out, line out).

To the 8th inning they go, Sounds still trailing 1-0.

Game One pinch-hit walk-off hero RF Luis Castillo starts the second game of today's Carolina-Down East doubleheader, with RHP Patricio Aquino (3.02 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 80.1 IP) on the mound for this 7-inning affair. Elsewhere, Lynchburg is up big in their game, so Carolina needs this win to grow their division lead to 3 games.

DH Jesse Winker somehow reached on an infield single, then 3B Abraham Toro's second hit of the game brings him home and we've got a brand new ballgame: Nashville 1, Durham 1 going into the bottom of the 8th inning. C'mon Nashville!

Wisconsin loads the bases in the 5th inning on a Darrien Miller single and two walks, with SS Eric Brown Jr. driving home a run with a sacrifice fly.

Wisconsin 1, Beloit 1 - headed to the bottom of the 5th inning.

The re-invention of Ethan Small as a solid reliever has taken more time than expected, but he may now be pulling it off: 1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K tonight - his 9th consecutive appearance without conceding a run.

The Smokies aren't too happy here at the end of the 6th inning, as CF-Rod notched his 7th (swinging) and 8th (looking) strikeouts to strand a runner at 3rd base. Their manager and hitting coach are both ejected.

Biloxi leads 4-3 going into the 7th inning.

Wisconsin loads the bases with nobody out in the top of the 6th inning: Brock Wilken double, Hendry Mendez walk, Robert Moore single. Golden chance to grab the lead. Game is presently 1-1.

Shoot - the Timber Rattlers only get one baserunner home on a ground ball double play off the bat of Joe Gray Jr.. At least they've taken the lead 2-1 going into the bottom of the 6th inning, but more runs would have been nice.

The Sounds do zilch in the top of the 9th inning (K, ground out, fly out), so now we have to hope that 37-year old LHP Fernando Abad can keep the game 1-1 in his 3rd appearance since joining the organization.

LHP Russell Smith relieves CF-Rod in the bottom of the 7th inning with Biloxi clinging to a 4-3 lead. He concedes a triple and a walk with one out, but stages a great escape with consecutive strikeouts! To the 8th inning they go.

Nashville and Fernando Abad nearly overcome an inning-opening single and wild pitch, getting a strikeout and ground out before Durham wins on a walk-off throwing error by SS Patrick Dorrian.

Final: Durham 2, Nashville 1.

Alexander Cornielle can't quite get through the 6th inning unscathed, conceding a two-out double which brings home the tying run.

Wisconsin 2, Beloit 2. Off to the 7th inning.

Dylan O'Rae led off Game Two of the Mudcats' doubleheader with a single, but was caught stealing. Then the next 5 Carolina batters struck out.

However, starting RHP Patricio Aquino worked around 2 singles in the 2nd inning, then a triple and in the 3rd inning.

Carolina 0, Down East 0 - scoreless in the 3rd inning.

Catalyst SS Eric Brown Jr. reaches on a single in the top of 7th inning, then creates the havoc that he does so well: stolen base (33rd of 2023) and error to get to 3rd base, then Wisconsin scores 2 runs on a single from CF Luis Lara and an error.

Wisconsin 4, Beloit 2 - going into the bottom of the 7th inning, with RHP Miguel Guerrero coming into pitch.

Biloxi opens the 9th inning with a walk and 3B Zavier Warren single to put runners on the corners, but fails to score: 5-2-3 GIDP, K.

RHP Max Lazar got the final out of the 8th inning and now stays in to try to close out this 4-3 game for Biloxi.

Lazar walked one, but closed out the victory with two ground outs.

Final: Biloxi 4, Tennessee 3.

Elsewhere, Montgomery was rained out, so Biloxi and Montgomery are now tied as they battle for a playoff spot with about 2.5 weeks remaining in AA ball.

The second game of today's Carolina-Down East doubleheader remains tight: 0-0 through 4 1/2 innings, but C Jose Sibrian leads off the bottom of the 5th inning with a double. Bring him home, gentlemen!

Starting RHP Patricio Aquino is only at 63 pitches through 5 innings - will he continue?

Carolina 0, Down East 0 thus far.

We didn't even move him to 3rd base (pop out, fly out, fly out).

Carolina and Down East are scoreless going into the 6th inning of the second game of today's doubleheader, which is scheduled for 7 innings. Starting RHP Patricio Aquino is indeed staying in.

Back from injury for his first appearance since August 15, LHP Justin King throws a scoreless 8th inning in Beloit (K, fly out, K), but Wisconsin fails to make anything happen in the top of the 9th inning.

Now RHP Shane Smith comes in for the potential Save, with the Timber Rattlers leading 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th inning.

Patricio Aquino goes walk, double, walk to commence the 6th inning of this 0-0 game, but Manager Estevez keeps him in to face the next batter. Lets go Patricio!

A 6-2 groundout gives Carolina a force out at home for the first out of this inning, still with the bases loaded. Aquino continues onto the next batter, now at 80 pitches.

Smith walked one batter, but struck out two and got the final out on a line drive to shortstop.

That's 6 wins in a row for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers!
