Trade Burnes, Adames, Small, Zamora to Dodgers for Emmett Sheehan (SP), Ryan Pepiot (SP), River Ryan (SP - AAA), Thayron Liranzo (C - A+)

Trade Payamps to Baltimore for Joey Ortiz (SS/2B)

Free agents: Carlos Santana (1B), Manny Pina (C), Brent Suter (LHRP)

Promotions: Tyler Black (3B), Robert Gasser (SP)

Only $81M payroll but high upside ML-ready prospects to excite the fanbase and potentially still be competitive.

I would like Turang to start in the minors but with the trade of Burnes the Brewers have to get ML-ready pitching back and no free agent 2B interest me.  If Turang doesn't hit and needs to be sent down they have Oliver Dunn and Owen Miller to bring up with Ortiz moving over to SS.

SP depth: Rea (swingman/6th starter), Ryan (AAA), Carlos Rodriguez (AAA), free agent reclamation projects on minor league deals

**Wild Card** - with shedding so much payroll, they sign Trevor Bauer for 1/$15M.

  • C: William Contreras ($0.77M)
  • 1B: Carlos Santana ($8.00M)
  • 2B: Joey Ortiz ($0.77M)
  • 3B: Tyler Black ($0.70M)
  • SS: Brice Turang ($0.77M)
  • LF: Tyrone Taylor ($1.70M)
  • CF: Garrett Mitchell ($0.77M)
  • RF: Sal Frelick ($0.77M)
  • DH: Christian Yelich ($26.00M)
  • Bench OF: Blake Perkins ($0.77M)
  • Utility: Jake Bauers ($1.30M)
  • Utility: Andruw Monasterio ($0.77M)
  • Backup C: Manny Pina ($2.00M)
  • SP1: Freddy Peralta ($5.50M)
  • SP2: Ryan Pepiot ($1.00M)
  • SP3: Adrian Houser ($5.60M)
  • SP4: Emmett Sheehan ($0.77M)
  • SP5: Robert Gasser ($0.70M)
  • CL: Devin Williams ($6.50M)
  • RP: Abner Uribe ($0.77M)
  • RP: Hoby Milner ($1.70M)
  • RP: Bryse Wilson ($1.30M)
  • RP: Brent Suter ($3.00M)
  • RP: Trevor Megill ($0.77M)
  • RP: Elvis Peguero ($0.77M)
  • RP: Colin Rea ($3.50M)

Payroll is 45.02% under budget

I love the return on the Dodger trade but don’t think there’s any way the LAD trade both Sheehan and Pepiot for 2 total years of Burnes-Adames.

Just not a Friedman-type of move. I think it’s going to be hard enough just getting the right return from that team trading 1 of Burnes-Adames.

I also don’t think Baltimore trades a top 50 prospect in Ortiz for a non-Williams reliever. Payamps just doesn’t have that type of value. Now Williams to Baltimore sounds more like the right move. Lots of IF talent to choose from like a Mayo might be had there.

Take it for what it's worth, but baseball trade values has a slightly higher value on Payamps than Ortiz.  Ortiz has nowhere to go with Henderson, Holliday, and Westburg there.  Payamps is cheap and under control for 3 years and the O's need bullpen, so Payamps will have some extra value to the O's.  A true closer such as Williams will cost Baltimore a lot more than Ortiz, in both prospects and salary.

Agree Williams would cost more than Ortiz.

I agree Baltimore needs bullpen help. With Bautista down until ‘25 they seem like the perfect team to trade Williams to.

Williams for Mayo?

Williams for Ortiz & Norby?

Williams for Norby & Hall?
