AND, Yonny hits an inside out liner all the way to the wall in right CF. He hadn't had an RBI in his past 10 games. How about three tonight to open the scoring!?! Whew. That was in on the barrel but he somehow hit it perfectly. 3-0 Sounds. Hernandez on 3rd.

Chavez Young sac fly plates Hernandez. And a ground out ends the frame. Sounds hand RHP Chad Patrick a 4-0 lead.

Noice!

Not how you want to start the outing Mr. Patrick:

A free pass to the very speedy Victor Scott II. He's having a down year. Gotta make him hit a ball. He's struggling to find the zone here early. 2-0 on Walker. Change-up low and away below the zone. Ball 3. 3-0 count. Gets the strike dead center looking. Mejía with a dart to 2B nabs Scott. What a throw.

AAA Nashville turns to red-hot 25-year old RHP Chad Patrick (1.54 ERA with 30 Ks in last 23.1 IP) to lead them to a series-tying victory in Memphis. LF Isaac Collins has a 16-game on-base streak. 3B Tyler Black (first game at hot corner since April 5) is in a 1-for-17 slump.

Just an FYI: Black is not at 3B. He's playing 1B tonight. Dorrian is at 3B.

Patrick gives up the full count 103 mph groundball single through the left side. One down. Walker on 1B. Patrick not particularly sharp in the first frame.

Mudcats with runners on the corners, trailing 8-4, two down. Yophery goes down looking again at an off-speed hanger on the outer stripe. Man, for as talented and try hard as Rodriguez is? He looks at a lot of strikeout pitches. Gotta get that bat off the shoulders and fight that pitch off or, in the least, try to fight it. Way too man spectator K's.

Dorrian is absolutely lost at the dish at present. No confidence. Chasing and not seeing pitches. A first AB 1-2 K. Swinging at a heater and pulling his head away and practically walking to the dugout before the pitch hit the catcher's mitt. What a struggle in 2024. I hurt for him!

Wiemer just did that jam shot lose the bat in the right hand and shake your right hand grimacing thing again. Just absolutely topped a weak grounder to short. Looked in pain doing so. That's one of his AB kryptonites.

Patrick is not sharp early. He gave up two hard hit liners to start his second frame. A single and now a triple to the wall in the RF/CF gap. He's not getting swings and misses. He isn't locating all that well. 4-1. Man on 3rd. Nobody out.

Isaac Collins. Smoked his 6th ding dong of his season. That ball was smoked. Woot woot. 5-2 Sounds. Slider into Collins swing path.

Mejia just missed a two-run jack by about 6' down the RF line. Whew that ball was close. He strike out on the next pitch. Baseball.

5-2 Sounds onto the bottom of the bottom of the 3rd.

Bleyberg Diaz just took a fouled ball off the old family jewels. He is in some major pain. The trainer is out there. He is keeled over. Ouch!

Patrick just gave up another hard hit RBI. A double to deep Left CF one bounced off the wall. 5-3 Sounds. Patrick just isn't sharp. And, it should be mentioned, he hasn't been sharp versus the Redbirds all season.

Shuckers are knotted up 0-0 in the bottom of the 7th. I'm praying for a miracle: A Shuckers victory. 4 hits to the Wahoos' 3. Smith went 5 IP, 6 K, 3 H, 1 BB. Fantastic start. Seminaris has pitched 2 scoreless so far. As I've said on numerous occasions: keep him in relief please. Manager Joe Ayrault doing manager Joe Ayrault things: Darrien Miller in clean-up. EBJ batting in the 5th spot. I struggle to take Ayrault seriously. I really do.

I absolutely would bet the Redbirds announcer can do a bang up Donald Trump impression.

AND, Tyler Black crushes a two-run bomb over the RF wall! 7-3 Sounds babyyyyyyy! Black smoked that hanging off-speed pitch. Yowza. That's Black's 7th dinger of his season.

Wiemer grounded out to SS and did that right hand grimace and shake thing again. This is going to be a chronic thing for the much maligned Wiemer, isn't it?

McGreevy's sinker is really effective. I feel like he doesn't lean into it as much as he should. It's clearly been his best pitch for the Redbirds tonight.

One down. 4th walk to the next batter for the very not sharp RHP Chad Patrick.

Meanwhile, the Mudcats have runners on the corners. Two down. And Reece Walling looking for some 8th inning heroics.

Walling takes the count full and takes ball four. The bags are dripping! Two down. Muddies trailing 8-5. The Delmarva pitching coach is to the mound to talk with his reliever as they just started getting some arms up in the bullpen.

Ball 4. 8-6 Mudcats trail. Castillo to the dish and the bases still dripping. And, the Shorebirds will go back to their bullpen for a new arm.
