.366 BABIP against

3.00 xERA

3.60 xFIP

1.0 fWAR out of the Rockies pen, averages ~97 mph on his FB

He has 3 years of control. His auxiliary stats look good and the brewers obviously see something in him. They have turned so many pitchers with bad stats into something, I’m don’t questioning it. I was just pointing out his stats in Colorado aren’t good

I like the trade. Hope I am allowed to like it. A little leery of of the FIP and ERA difference. People said the same thing about Taylor Rogers and we saw how that turned out.

Big arm with fantastic stuff. 3 years controlled. Should be a bullpen mainstay moving forward.

He looks good but losing Yujanyer hurts me. Dominant in Carolina and really good in Wisconsin. I even had him in my shortlist for the BF Top 20. Mears better be good.

Mears seems like a good one to bet on here but I liked Herrera.

Interesting that they chose to use some trade capital on the pen when they've got Devin and Hall coming back.

Rodriguez is our 9th prospect. The cost is high. He has good auxiliary numbers, so I’m hoping this works out.

I'm lost.  What does Rodriguez have to do with this?

Well, we can't make it through a trade deadline without overpaying for a bullpen guy that looks meh.  Hope I'm wrong, but looks like a big overpay to me.

Just didn't feel like we valued Blalock here at all, and trading Hererra is a real headscratcher to me when I look at the return.

I feel really sorry for Hererra and Blalock though, the Colorado Rockies, where pitchers go to die.

Go to BRef and advanced pitching, Mears has nice improvements from last season. Colorado looks to have picked him up of waivers from Texas. Brewers Probably had their eye on him but were beaten on waiver claim order. Multiple years of control and immediately helps the team. Good trade. Sorry to Blalock.

Only thing I don't like about the trade is that Mears has no options. If he struggles they either have to deal with the struggles or DFA him. The peripherals are really good and he has very good stuff. If he pans out the Brewers could get 3.5 seasons out of him. Blalock was an arrow down guy this season and Herrera while being arrow up mostly has back end rotation upside. Seems like a relatively fair value deal.

Interesting to add to the pen when we have reinforcements coming back!

Can anyone who is quicker with the pen see/interpret how Mears' splits are? I know it seems every other day we are losing an arm so we need more .. but this seems to me that more deals are in the works and bullpen pieces could be moving?
