2024 Non-Drafted Player Signings

This thread is intended to cover the signing of non-drafted players who are now free agents. In 2023, I recall at least 6 such signings: KC Hunt, Isaiah Jackson, Blake Whiting, Bayden Root, Harrison Durow and Alejandro Rodriguez,

Most of us took note of the signing of Prince Fielder's son Jadyn Fielder, a 19-year old infielder out of TNXL Academy.

In fact, BrewerFanatics' Seth Stohs wrote an article about it.

As did JR Radcliffe of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

And Theo DeRosa of MLB.com.

Then there's 6'4" RHP Miles Langhorne, a 21-year old from UNC-Charlotte:

Rather informative interview - passed up a chance to transfer to Oregon State. Team is scrimmaging other clubs in Arizona (e.g. Royals a few days ago). Hoping to be sent to Carolina or Wisconsin this year. Not sure if he'll be invited to post-season instructs in Arizona.

It appears we've also added 21-year old RHP Garrett Hodges from Gardner-Webb, who'd earlier announced a planned transfer to UNC Charlotte.

I believe we can sign as many non-drafted players as we want for up to $150k each (it was limited to $20k prior to 2022).

Anything above $150k for a player would actually count against the bonus pool, but I don't think anyone imagines that these players are signing for that much.

I assume Reece Walling got a sizeable signing bonus in 2022, but we'll probably never know how much.

These post-draft signings are how we picked up Shane Smith in 2022 and KC Hunt in 2023.

These post-draft signings are how we picked up Shane Smith in 2022 and KC Hunt in 2023.

Sounds like part of our strategy to spend most of our 11-20 on signable high schoolers and use the undrafted guys as our pre-2023 11-20 college signings.
