The Low-A Mudcats seek a 3rd straight home victory over Augusta and a second straight solid start for 19-year old RHP Josh Knoth (5.2 scoreless innings with 7 Ks last week). 2B Juan Baez must have one of the lowest K-rates in the minor leagues (8.3% of PAs).

The Timber Rattlers have dropped 4 straight and it appears INF Luke Adams will miss his 3rd consecutive game. 22-year old RHP Josh Timmerman (3.99 ERA with 62 Ks in 56.1 Low-A IP) makes his High-A debut at Great Lakes. 2B Eduardo Garcia has a 7-game hitting streak.

23-year old LHP Tate Kuehner makes his 4th AA start (2.81 ERA with 18 Ks in 16 IP), as Biloxi aims to avoid a 3-0 series deficit in Birmingham. 3B Brock Wilson is out of the lineup for a 3rd straight game. C Darrien Miller is due to snap out of his August funk (.175 SLG this month with 6 BB / 15 Ks).

22-year old RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez is on a solid recent run (2.17 ERA with 29 Ks in 29 IP) for AAA Nashville, who look to him to lead them to a 2-1 home series lead over Jacksonville. His near-namesake LF Carlos D. Rodriguez has a 7-game hitting streak.

Muddies put up a four-spot in the 2nd and just added another by way of C David García's 2nd 2B of the early going. 5-0 lead as they back RHP Josh Knoth in his second consecutive solid start (3 IP, 1 H. 0 BB, 3 K).

Yophery’s leadoff double didn’t result in a run, but the Mudcats netted 4 runs on 5 hits in the second frame, with David Garcia notching an RBI double and Juan Baez plating 2 with a single.

Wisconsin is mirroring Carolina’s start in a nice way. Leadoff Lara walk, SB, error got him to 3rd with nobody out, but he didn’t score. Then they’ve come back to grab 3 runs in the second frame, with Jesus Chirinos delivering a 2-run double.

They've lost 7 straight at Great Lakes daring back to 2022. It. Is. Time.

Man I’ll be happy not to see the Loons. Campbell and DePaula have been on fire against them the past few nights. Now a 4-3 deficit for the T-Rats.

Mudcats cruising now 6-2 after Dinges plates another run. 12 hits!

And hey what’s that. The Shuckers (sans Boeve 😞 and still now Wilken) score 4 runs.  Now up 4-2 after Barons get a couple across in the 3rd  against Kuener. Still 2 out let’s hope we keep it there.

Jesus Broca on to try to close it out for the Muddies.  And gives up back to back singles. Let’s buckle down and get the last three outs.
Meanwhile 2 on after a Warren double and O’Rae walk. Let’s get some runs Shuckers.

Alas nothing further for Biloxi.

But the Sounds get a run 1-1.

Mudcats - Broca gives up a double and it’s now 6-3.  No outs 😥
EDIT : and another hit and it’s 6-5. Oh no. I can’t live through anymore bullpen gaffs.  Last night was too much.

Just a random observation:

We haven't seen 3B Brock Wilken or OF Yoshwar Garcia since last week's series.

And Luke Adams and Blake Burke.

WIth a man on 2B. Two down. 6-5 lead. Broca gives up an absolute swinging nubber bunt to the 3B side. He made an attempt at the play and missed. Baez had hesitated and then got the ball and no play was to be made. Men on the corners. Welcome to Low-A Mr. Broca. 😅

Just adding that Boeve to the 60-Day Cherry on our late-season poop sundae.

Broca buckles down and gets a K swinging on consecutive hook curves at the upper part of the zone - first looking and second swinging as he threw it just above the inner and upper part of the zone left-on-lefty. 6-5 Muddies and a 3-0 series lead.

And Broca closes the door.  Phew. Muddies win. 70 wins for the season noice

T-Rats get a runner to third with one out. Wood K, Vargas grounds out. Ugh still down 4-3

Kuener struggling in the 4th. Single, walk, wild pitch. Then gets a pop out and a K to end the inning. Still 4-2 Shuckers. Feeling that they need a couple more before the night is over.

T-Rats in a bind with two on and Campbell and DePaula up. But they are retired. 2 outs.

Wow. That’s the Shuckers right now.  Most nights can’t hit or score.

Tonight they jump out 4-0.  But But 2 runs cut it in half. Now 5th, and Kuener can’t get the strikes, and he’s out and Bowman gives up the HR. 5-4 Barons. The pitching can’t keep the lead.  Yup that’s Biloxi right now.

Took 3 pitches for the bullpen to blow the lead haha. 5-4 in the 5th might as well be 50-4 with how lifeless Biloxi's offense is.

Yup. Oh well.  Biloxi right now is not great

T_Rats down to last 3 outs of the game. 4-3. But Lara with a very nice catch to end the bottom of the 8th inning, to keep it a one run game, He is a very good defender.

Just for evidence of how bleak the Biloxi lineup is today.

Players over .800 OPS - 1

Players over  .700 OPS - 2

Players over .650 OPS - 3

Players over .600 OPS - 4

Over half the dang lineup has an OPS below .600.
