Whether anything more can be done to build a better team more suitable for postseason play is debatable.  Whether the system is flawed or not is irrelevant.  It's the system we have and the system they will be judged against.  If anything can happen, why does the same thing keep happening?

Random variance for the most part.  Each season is a different team with many different players.  Less so in 2020 though.  That team gets lumped in with other postseason losses but that team shouldn't have been there and was significantly worse than the dodgers.

I get pulling Peralta early after the poor inning he had but it did look like he settled down well in the 3rd and 4th. I guess I would have like to see him at least come out for the 5th and if he got into any kind of trouble have a short leash. I guess at least he will be available for Game 1 after we win these next 2 games.

The most questionable part of the decision-making yesterday IMO. He went to guys that had been terrific recently so I get it, but Murphy brought up the '3rd time through the order' thing & the first three hitters due up had only faced him once. So there is definitely room to question the move.

Also, for those not at the stadium the sun was in a brutal spot for Chourio and had to be a factor in him missing that.

Yeah Chourio said he lost it in the windows.

I agree, I think it would have been perfectly reasonable to have Payamps ready and let Freddy face the bottom of the order.

What happen to Payamps getting to the bag so late on that big play at 1st? For me, that was the big play of the game.

That's it for me as well.  I didn't see a replay of the mound, but I can only assume he was slow to react.  And he compounded it my making a bad line to the bag ending up few feet to the home base side and then after he had the ball, missed the bag and got his foot caught on the ground.  Just an all around abysmal play by him.

Remember what Yoda said:

The Packers also had trouble selling out a playoff game against SF a few years ago...

I was part of the solution for that game and I believe it did sell out or was at least visibly "full".  So many season ticket holders giving up the chance to buy tickets because it didn't look like we were going to make the playoffs is the major reason that happened.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."
