  1. Mitchell leading off, both Bauers and Vaughn in the lineup - I approve of this configuration.
  2. I'd l.ike to see position player pitching banned. If you're concerned about wearing out arms, then have an actual pitcher throw 40mph lobs. Either way, you should have to wear it.
  3. Agreed there's definitely an argument for doing it earlier with Frelick, but it should surprise absolutely no one that he PH there.
  4. It's funny that we think of 98mph cutters and 90mph curves as mediocre.
  5. ...and that's what happens when you just throw a bunch of 103mph FB.
  6. He totally has almost every first inning though, it's been straight gas. I can't remember this many curves this early.
  7. Yeah, Yelich at least historically provided a decent OBP even after his power dipped, and obviously is sublime at running the bases. That's a good description of a leadoff hitter. Now it's probably more out of habit than anything. If Mitchell stays on fire he should move up.
  8. I didn't realize until a recent broadcast (Friday maybe?) where the broadcaster noted that he didn't even start hitting LH until he was a professional. That could at least explain the difference in results.
  9. With the win tonight, we're officially back to .500 in the NL (2,261-2,261-1).
  10. Have done a number of European trips with lots of kids. Portugal is a great country to spend 1-2 weeks in. Lisbon is a fun city, but like Italy you can see very different regions in a small area. Sintra is one of the favorite places I've been to in any country. If you haven't been to England, also offers a great mix of experiences. London is probably my favorite big city, and then you have lots of other places to dip into. Highly recommend Budapest and Vienna as well.
  11. Be interesting to see what they do with the BP this game - Koenig/Uribe or Kuhnel/Anderson, depending on the score?
  12. Another example of why a grizzled ex-college coach is a really good fit for this young team.
  13. Chourio is simultaneously someone I trust the most to pulverize a ball and most fear waving at a sweeper out of the zone.
  14. With how Frelick is doing this month, it's pretty straightforward to start him against RHP.
  15. This doesn't need to turn into yet another thread about market inequalities, but Mark doesn't have 500M to spend on free agents. It's a structural problem. Now, back to talking about who you trust or not.
  16. With one more steal, he will be tied for 3rd on the team in SB. He may overtake Turang before long.
  17. Oh for sure, that was a criticism directed at the fan that posted that.
  18. You lost me there, buddy.
  19. The thing that gives me pause with Yoho is you're walking a really fine line as an MLB pitcher with a great change and an average FB... and that's it. Sproat is a comparison in terms of being patient, but not in the same universe of pitching talent. Devin Williams, who has THE best changeup in the world and a pretty decent fastball, struggles with consistency. It just feels like there is a lot more chance for him to be the proverbial AAAA player as a two-pitch pitcher who can't throw hard.
