SS Cooper Pratt is back in the AA Shuckers’ lineup, as they start their series at Braves’ affiliate Columbus (Georgia). RHP KC Hunt (5.40 ERA, 17 Ks in 16.2 IP) is on the hill in Game 1. Pratt’s early Saturday exit snapped his 7-game hit streak, but he does have a 13-game on-base streak. Darrien Miller wears #29.

The Low-A Mudcats host Cubs’ affiliate Myrtle Beach this week and send LHP Wande Torres (3.68 ERA, 2 Ks in 7.1 IP) to the mound for Game 1. C Marco Dinges has a 14-game on-base streak.

LHP Wande Torres' ongoing unimpressive full-season work continues:

Five-pitch walk (everything running arm side, yet again)

1-1 HR over the RF wall to a lefty.

Mudcats trail 2-0.

Torres may sit 95-96 mph but with an 8:2 BB:K ratio and a slider he can't really consistently locate  (not to mention a lack of a consistent third pitch at present - he tries to toss in the change-up. Hopefully that develops). Make that an 8:3 BB:K ratio - he answers the long ball with a swinging K. Anyhow: very very much a work in progress.

AAA Nashville faces Braves’ affiliate Gwinnett on the road this week, with RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (1.09 ERA, 33 Ks in 24.2 IP) aiming to continue his hot start. CF Jared Oliva leads the team in hits, runs, stolen bases (13-for-13!), triples and HBP.

Torres escape further damage via long fly to deep RF (well hit but hung up) and a swinging K. Pitch count in the low 30's. Primarily throwing a four-seamer and change-up early by my eyes. I do not believe he's thrown a slider (?) - but the early camera work was all over the place and we only got a few pitches from behind the mound. Annoying half inning. LOL.

This Mudcats production tonight is really not dialed early. They are late to swap cameras. They can't find the ball and we are getting wayyyyy too many pitches from behind home plate or off to the side. Just give us the CF camera, please.

The Timber Rattlers (8-13) get a 5th chance for a 1st series victory of 2025, as they host Tigers’ affiliate West Michigan. CF Eduardo Garcia is right back in the lineup after exiting Sunday’s game with an HBP. RHP Ryan Birchard (3.55 ERA, 14 Ks in 12.2 IP) makes his 4th start this year. The team welcomes 19-year old OF/INF Luiyin Alastre to High-A ball.

Adamczewski reaches for a 3-2 low heater (lefty on lefty) and rips a liner past the diving 2nd base. He turns it into a hustle double in the process. 2-1 Mudcats trail. Men on 2nd and 3rd. Nobody down. That was a really nice AB by Adamczewski who picked up his 19th RBI in the process. And, he was screwed out of a 3-0 count by a poor second pitch strike call.

Dinges ripped a first pitch liner off the Pelicans' SS (apparently, the ongoing camera snafus continue - what are we doing in Zebulon?) and we are tied 2-2. Men on the corners. Nobody down.

No more damage done. Bitonti 3-2 K looking (high outside hook - borderline). Di Turi hits weakly into a DP. 2-2 on to the 2nd frame.

Torres pounding off-speed early in the 2nd. Really nice change of approach. Leading with the off-speed he rips a heater on the outer black (looked just outside to me) for his 2nd K of his second frame.

Man alive that 2nd inning from Torres was what I crave. That was what I've been looking for. Really nice change of approach with fantastic results. Got swings and misses with that change-up and breaking ball. Got a K looking on the heater. Really fantastic inning. My favorite frame of his in Low-A to date.

The drunken camera work in Carolina continues. None the less, the Muddies took the lead on a Made ground out to SS. Walling had advanced to 3rd base after a free pass via PB and WP. 3-2 Muddies. Rodriguez on 3rd (BB). Inning ends on a Payne K swinging in a 1-2 count.

Season high in pitches for Torres here. First time into the 50's. He goes consecutive 3-up and 3-down frames. I imagine we'll see LHP Anfernny Reyes in the fourth.

Two hit day for Dinges already. Two hard hit liners. Fifth multi-hit game already. Man alive, how can we not be super jazzed about this young man's promise as a developmental back stop. This bat is a weapon.

Heck of a tricky over the shoulder grab by Bitonti to help Reyes escape the 4th unscathed. He stranded men on 2nd and 3rd (double and close walk)with the grab.

Marco Dinges. Man alive. Just scorches a triple off the RF wall for two more RBI. My goodness. That man can absolutely tomahawk lasers. Unreal talent.

Well, without warning, Dinges has been swapped out for Yannic Walther to start the sixth frame. Hopefully, he's fine and this is a planned rest (? Seems a bit odd). I didn't see anything but will have to go back and look at the fifth frame where he pounced on a weak rolling bunt up the first base line and fired a rocket to 1B.
