What’s the O/U on this one, 2.5 runs?

Looks like it’s actually 7 runs. They must be anticipating a long rain delay in the 4th that gets both starters out of the game

This is a big one gentlemen. 1 because it can set a tone for the next 2 games of the series and 2 because if Freddy can best Skenes it will cement his status as an ace in my mind at least finally 3 Yeli, Chourio, and Durbin are showing signs of life from yesterday if each can at least get a hit or on base a couple of times the confidence from that will hopefully jumpstart this offense back into full swing.

How Freddy pitches against a team that has Skenes pitching has nothing to do with one another.

If Skenes gets shelled and gives up 6 runs, and Freddy gives up 5 and gets the win with a final score of 6-5, does that make him an ace?

A true ace better damn well shut down a team like the Pirates, regardless of who pitches for them.  If Freddy gives up 4 or 5 runs to that team, he's no ace, regardless of winning the game.

I agree with the 2nd two parts but I believe a true ace will always bring there best stuff and up their game against the best in the game. I agree a true ace should always dominate the current Pirates but there is a big difference between 6 innings 2 runs and like 6 k's and like 7+ innings 0 runs and 10 k's especially when going against Skenes and with our bullpen overworked.

I do think getting to .500 is a psychologically important thing. Schedule gets tougher after these games, so going 5-2 at least against the O's and Pirates feels necessary.

Somehow, these guys are in it. I think the Cards and Reds will fade, as will some of the West teams, so the WC is a realistic option if we can somehow start putting together winning streaks.

I still feel like this team is mediocre, but maybe they can steal 85 wins and sneak into the playoffs.

Why does Joey get a game off a day after he smacks a nice home run? That’s not how you build off a good day. Why not sub out Durbin and improve the defense??

Scoring in the first with those two hits might have been a good idea

Skenes has five K’s in three innings

Could be a long night

Peralta has been hit hard a few times too
