Breakdown / Highlights

The Brewers started the week with a 3-game set at home against Baltimore. Game one would see a 5-4 Brewer win, with Quinn Priester and Rob Zastryzny combining for 6.1 innings as the opener/long relief duo. Offensively, William Contreras drove in two runs with his first four-hit game of the season. Tuesday's game two saw the Brewers pick up their third straight victory behind Logan Henderson, who twirled five scoreless innings and racked up seven strikeouts. Milwaukee would fail to complete its first sweep of the season the next day, losing in 11 innings, and expand its bullpen completely, a decision by Pat Murphy that would hurt the team throughout the rest of the week.

Caleb Durbin manufactures a run with his speed:

In Pittsburgh, the Brewers opened their four-game set against the Pirates by taking game one. Aaron Civale made his return to the mound in the winning effort, pitching four innings of two-run ball before Carlos Rodríguez (shackled by a two-hour rain delay, no less) took over. Christian Yelich added with his best offensive game of the season, recording his first multi-homer game since the 2023 season, driving in four of the Brewers' eight runs in the process. Trevor Megill closed the game out, pitching for the fourth time in five days, a decision that would be costly over the next two days. Games two and three would see the offense go cold once again, as well as the laboring Brewers' bullpen starting to falter. Abner Uribe blew two saves on Friday in the 6-5 loss, while steady names in Tyler Alexander and Jared Koenig struggled on short rest, resulting in another 1-run Pirates victory on Saturday. That came despite the first career 3-hit game from Caleb Durbin, and 11 hits from the Brewers in total.

Joey Ortiz goes deep:

On Sunday, the Milwaukee offense jumped out to an early 3-run lead, but once again, the bullpen would wash the lead away. Logan Henderson was solid once again, despite Oneil Cruz breaking the Statcast record on a solo homer, going five innings, and striking out six. Nick Mears and Jared Koenig would give up a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh innings. However, a three-run eighth from the Brewers and shutdown innings from Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill saw the Brewers complete their first multi-run comeback of the season, to split the series with the pesky Pirates.

I guess the Braves are ready to reboot with there MiLB prospects and Brewers: As a team that badly needs to alter something ASAP have our chance right now.  Look at how Paul Goldschmidt came alive after leaving StL.
