Ragsdale gets to 1B via Catcher's Interference. He immediately swipes 2B.

Man, Ebel is looking at a lot of pitches early. He is sitting on hittable pitches.

Can someone give me a quick scouting report on K Garcia? Dude just turned 18, is a catcher….and seems to have hit the baseball well all year despite being super young! Should we be getting excited about this kid, or should I be putting in the brakes?

Ebel bloops out to the 3B. Just doesn't have the feel for it so far tonight. Not swinging at very hittable heaters. Not timed right on the balls he is hitting. 0-for-2. K looking. Soft line out to 3B.

He is certainly hitting the ball. He has a good approach. Really nice professional piece of hitting in his first AB. Other than that, I think it's too early to tell. BUT, I like his approach at the dish. That's more than I can say about most of our youngest catchers. 😅 He also has some nice size. That sticks out. He's got a good frame to work with. There's lots to like here.

I think the infield ump blew a call at 1B in a bang-bang slow ground out to 1B. Bitonti made a poor throw to Hernandez who was covering. They gave the hitter a single. A better throw to the bag that actually hits Hernandez in stride gets the runner out. I see it as an error. What's new? I'm in disagreement with a Minor League scorer. It also looked as tho Hernandez's toe touched the edge of the bag. These calls mean something. Runners on the corners now with a single snuck through the hole at SS. Men on the corners Two down. The Shorebirds two out rallies continue. Muddies lead 2-1.

Man the Shorebirds squad is their 3 first rounders, and a 3rd rounder. All college bats. And we have our 1st rounder HS bat in the line up. Again just pointing out how absurd the age/experience differences are in many Mudcat games

I was laughing at that as well the first time through the line-up. Like 3-4 year age gaps.

Bitonti goes down swinging at two consecutive fairly filthy sliders down and in. Palmer has 4 K through 3 IP. He clearly has 'stuff'.

Encarnacion goes down looking on three pitches. Another filthy off-speed after he ripped a heater up and away for a swinging strike. And, Anderson is pretty much swinging at anything early so he starts 0-1. He then flies out just shy of the warning track in left CF. On to the 4th. Only made Palmer throw 8 pitches that inning. No bueno.

Good luck, my friend! Doing the good work Papa Bear. My 7-year-old heads back to school September 3rd. On to 2nd grade. Woot woot. Our 22 yo took the year off a year out from finishing their Bachelor of Arts. Nothing like the 15 year age gap for perspective. 😅

Hernandez induces the weak topper ground out to the mound. That's just 45 pitches through 4 IP for Melvin. That could bode very very well for the length of his outing and the pitch count of the bullpen. Let's hope this keeps going! Meanwhile, Fredericksburg is trailing Lynchburg 3-1 early.

Di Turi's body language in the batters box bespeaks of a young man mired in a prolonged slump. He knows he's missing hittable pitches. The timing isn't right. The swing path is off. He goes down with a check swing sword for his second K swinging tonight. Sigh. Man, I am rooting hard for him to rediscover what made him great for the majority of the season before these last two months.

Hernandez now qualifies for what could be his 10th victory of his season. This would be the first Mudcat with double digit wins since 2019 if it were to hold. Let's get it!

Palmer has 8 K now as Payne goes down looking at a 3-2 pitch on the inner half. Ump has been calling that pitch all evening. Mudcats bats have been looking more than swinging.

A new pitcher aboard and Ebel grabs his first poke a liner into shallow LF. An oppo single. Man aboard. Two down. Bitonti to the dish.
